Many saw the finished project at Ole Miss and assumed LSU would be that in Year 1

It was honestly an unrealistic expectation to think LSU in Year 1 of a complete rebuild would be the same as Ole Miss in Year 5 under Kiffin.

Trust the process. The future is bright and will only get brighter with another full offseason and portal under his belt.

I still have yet to hear anyone give an argument for why year 2 or 3 will be substantially different.

I’m onboard, I just wish someone could articulate what the difference will be and why

Kiffs first year in NIL and portal at OM is till doable for LSU. 10-2 can still happen

Why wouldn't be? Did anyone think Kiffin slapping a roster together in 3 weeks time with an entirely gutted team alongside his coaching staff still coaching Ole Miss wasn't going to have consequences for the season? Kiffin told you for months this team wasn't going to be it.

He said it MONTHS and he told you exactly the problems we're having now.

-Bad OL play -- he called it
-Few injuries from disaster -- he called it
-Lack of depth -- he called it
-No WR1 - he called it

etc. etc.

Apparently people had their hands over their ears in interviews. Why do you think he fought so hard to fill his gaps with other players that the SEC said no you can't have?

It's called depth. It's called culture. It's called experience in the system. All of these take more than one year with a new coach, system and players. All of the players that come back will have a year under their belt with the coaches , the system , the culture and if you get those players to stay and add recruits and portal transfers then you start to build depth which is what separates the good teams from the great ones. If Andling, Spears, Green,Ross, Reilford and Weeks were playing I believe we are undefeated or at least have only one loss. It's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Great teams win even when they play badly but with the ref calls/non calls in KY game it made it even more difficult yet with all the injuries and mistakes we still had a chance to win the game. I'd rather let the season play out and see where we end up but I'm not worried about the future of the program.

I agree that things will get better, but the bithersome part is kentucky is in the same boat. New coach, new roster. Much less expensive roster presumably

I’m also not worried about the state of the program I just don’t track with everyone acting like year 1 gets a mulligan.

When we talk about players having another year in the system, I’m with you on that. But in today’s age, who know who is coming back?

So if we have a new QB and new pieces elsewhere, does that mean we have to again lower expectations because these guys now need another season to gel?

I think the obvious is that Kiffin is building the program foundation, plus overdrive recruiting to get the talent back on track, plus installing an offensive system, just to name a few all in less than a full offseason.

Next year, he will have less to do and more time to do it. Seems obvious next year is likely to be better. I think we got too excited when we shoved Clemson in a locker week one and thought the timeline was faster than we thought

I do not see the creative bold offense from Kiffin that I saw at Omiss. Though I’m hopeful that is only becuz he has not had the time to recruit the players he really needs. In the Kentucky game LSU needed one damn yard; a quick bubble / screen would hv easily worked as they were committed to stopping the run. And the qb up middle by omiss at the end ; what kind of moron coach could not see that crap coming, practically every body else in the world could. Pathetic coaching! Go back to coaching peewee football. What a dumbazz.
