I guess recruiting players who are all americans in their freshmen year and later years isnt good enough for our fanbase.

This - see last year with whats his name that threw 97 but couldn’t throw a strike to save his life.

We recruited a JUCO kid that threw 100+ and had three pitches he could command.

He listed 4th on this list: LINK

- can play all positions mediocre but is built for 2B.

Because that's the mold of player he was. When we lost in Omaha in 2013 he panicked and thought that home runs were the devil and hit and runs were the wave of the future.

Last year LSU made a great run in large part because Deichmann was not your typical Mainieri recruit, and Watson's power I think surprised everyone.

Mainieri is going to hate next years freshman class. There is only one 5'9" position player in the class.

I know Bryce has another year, but I was hoping we'd get two 1st baseman instead of just one.

We actually have a L/L 1B coming in from Curtis. 6'0" 220.

We have two catchers committed that are 6'3" or taller though and could play 1B (though Willis may not get to campus).

The absence of a big 6'4 L/L masher manning 1B during the Mainieri era has been noticeable and puzzling. It's almost always been 5'10 R/R guys.

True.

Not really. We've had some big time 1B power prospects committed. Those guys also happen to be at a premium at every level of professional baseball as well, so the ones we had committed never made it to campus. It's not rocket science.

Aren't you related to him or something like that?

Or am I confusing you with someone else?

ETA: Beloso will be playing this summer in the Great Lakes Collegiate League for the Limo Locos, to get some experience before getting to campus.

My cousin's kid. Couldn't pick him out of a lineup but, seems like we're related.

L/L 1B guys aren't really that critical. Deichmann not being better there was puzzling. Bryce Adams was PM trying to get a big guy there, too. And that's just the last few years.

Aaron Nola - maybe the greatest LSU career ever as a pitcher
Kevin Gausman - Threw 100+ top 10 pick
Jared Poche - LSU career wins record holder
Zach Hess - Mediocre curve you said?

Blake Dean - Name litters SEC record books
Alex Bergman - Highest drafted position player ever at LSU.
Greg Deichmann - 19 HR’s in the dead ball era.
Zach Watson - Projected 1st rounder
Michael Papierski - 6’4” no way he could play 2nd
Millie Mahtook - 1st rounder, one of the greatest ever
Mason Katz- 16 HRs in desdball era

I have to go back to work but you don’t know shite. PM is the best coach in the country.

You are being prisoner of the moment. It is unreasonable to expect LSU to have better talent than everyone at every moment in time. We’ve had our share of guys that could have gone pro but signed with LSU. Conversely I’m sure Florida and Vandy has had kids they recruited that opted to sign with MLB
