@Chandler_Rome: News: Paul Mainieri says Cole Freeman will start tomorrow at SS and O'Neal Lochridge at 3B. That's a move "for the foreseeable future." #LSU

After all those sound bites of PM saying Dawson is too good defensively and his bat was "lagniappe".

I like the aggressive move, but it seems a little sudden to say its gonna last awhile

Manieri has seen a lot more than us. Dawson didn't hit in the scrimmages either

Good move PM. Most blunt HC I've ever heard

All summer and fall I heard about Dawson's.

" he's a natural talent"
"Austin Nola all over again"
"Web gem magnet"

And I know it's only the first weekend. But color me not impressed.

Perhaps, but Dawson struggled mightily at the plate during scrimmages so last weekend was just a continuation of that. Mainieri probably feels Dawson is a ways off from getting used to college pitching, especially compared to Freeman and Lochridge.

Say what you want about manieri but he adjusts the lineup throughout the year a ton to try to maximize production. We'll see how it goes

Out of everyone this weekend at the plate Dawson looked by far completely lost. 5 K's and a GiDP in 7 AB against some of the worst pitching he'll see all year. Kid is a major major project at the plate for Cannz.

I wonder if playing in West Virginia has him very underdeveloped for major college ball?

Love how in the advocate twitter mailbag today, rome says mainieri wont make a judgement based on two collegiate games. oops.
We've known for years this isn't the case with PM.

You can't afford two black holes in the middle infield, especially if you are going to insist that one of them bats leadoff.

He was by far the least impressive on offense followed by Bryce Jordan and Kramer.

I actually really enjoy his willingness to tinker with the lineup until he finds the best 1-9
We're talking about two different things. I have no problem with the coach doing what he thinks is best. What I find funny is the numerous interviews of him basically preparing the fanbase for a SS who won't hit well only to take him out when... he doesn't hit well. I don't get why he pretended that hitting wasn't that important.
