well, to be fair, you went straight for Verge......when the audio likely indicates (to the reasonable listener) Verge was insinuating they could check him out.

Listening to the audio, people got it wrong about Verge. He wasn’t angling to pay the dude. He was just trying to get the guy to say his bribe amount for the record. Verge and Segar were on the call at the same time and Segar flat out says LSU isn’t going to be paying you anything.

What I find odd is Verge calls him “Cleav”. I wonder how they know each other

You don’t know what LSU did “within the program” like the Saban style of discipline. Not agreeing to her demand about sitting out the bowl game doesn’t necessarily mean nothing was done.

I think he's despicable if the assault stories are true. No defense, whatsoever if they are fact.

The incident in question here is way overblown.

Guice is trash, I think everyone agrees.

Listening to the actual conversation , two things are clear :

1) This was a shakedown. To her credit , MS got Williams to clearly state that the compensation was ONLY about Guice playing in the bowl game. Williams clearly states that if Guice doesn’t play, they aren’t asking for money. They only want money if Guice plays so they will remain quiet. He makes this crystal clear in several comments.
2) Very unlikely that anyone spoke to O as if the date of this call. This game name drops everyone. He never mentions O. It’s also clear that Scott spoke to Verge PRIOR to this call. As I said 2-3 weeks ago, the person she calls “Coach” is likely Verge.
3) If, and I mean a big if, she spoke to O AFTER this call, given that LSU recorded this one it should be recorded. My belief , as stated before, is that she never spoke to O. She spoke to Verge thinking he was the Coach.


Although the multilayered Guice saga is not over for Guice and LSU, this aspect of it is OVER. Guice is trash. LSU made mistakes in not investigating at least 2 allegations made against him. LSU, however, did not do anything wrong here given the shakedown. The fact that Williams specifically relates the money to Guice playing changes how you view the validity of all of the allegations.
