Man on behalf of Gloria Scott, asked LSU for money in Guice Superdome incident

But audio recordings, text messages and police reports obtained through public records requests show that Williams made an additional demand of sorts. He told Athletic Department officials that Scott would go public with her story if the university did not pay her $100,000 or withhold Guice from the Citrus Bowl.
Scott says Williams made that request without her permission, and, in any event, experts who represent sexual harassment victims say that demands for money in the wake of harassment are common, expected and do not diminish the credibility of a victim’s testimony. The request from Williams, however, appears to have changed LSU’s view of Scott’s complaint against Derrius Guice.

On the phone with Williams in 2017, Segar and Ausberry asked him over and over again to give a monetary figure of how much money he wanted for Scott, according to the recording of the call. Segar also told Williams multiple times during the call that while she had spoken to Scott, Scott never told her she wanted money.
“We’re interested in knowing what you think that should be,” Segar said. “And if you talked to Ms. Gloria about this … Because she’s never said a word about this to me about, ‘Pay me to play.’ In fact, she’s only said she doesn’t want him to play.”

Ausberry then asked Williams to confirm that he’s an AAU basketball coach ‘with Nike,’ who sponsors some AAU teams. Williams said that he was.
“Uh-huh,” Ausberry said. “OK, we have a lot of friends that we know at Nike.”
oh verge smh
And Segar with the save

Segar closed the door on the possibility of LSU paying, and also suggested that if Scott had an attorney, the attorney should get in touch with LSU’s attorneys.
“Like I said, I’ve talked to her twice,” Segar said. “She’s never said anything about money. LSU is not going to pay money in this situation. I can tell you that.”

There are three sides to every story:
One person's side...the other person's side...and the truth

Well verge may have survived the first time, but this may do it.
ETA: I could be interpreting this incorrectly. It sounds like he was trying to get him to put a monetary value on guice not playing.

Looks like it was a money grab and not an actual grab by Guice.

It’s not blackmail,” Williams responded. “ … We don’t have to sugarcoat it. It is what it is. Now, in reference to her supporting what I’m saying, that’s not a problem at all. Because I’m not making none of this up, OK? Now, at the end of the day, I expressed the biggest concern: What is the value of Derrius Guice playing in the Citrus Bowl at LSU, ma’am? Then we go from there.”
It’s not blackmail....then proceeds to blackmail

Advocate website is literal trash. Not even talking about the article or them as a product, which is sub par, but this website is pathetic.

I suppose that statement could be interpreted multiple ways. But what I read is that the guy told Verge he was an AAU coach with Nike to which Verge seemed to indicate that they could find out if the guy was lying because LSU has friends at Nike who could confirm if this guy was telling the truth.
And to piggy-back off of this who think LSU is the only school "allegedly" to pay for basketball recruits just know that AAU exists almost EXCLUSIVELY as a "market" for HS basketball players. The "coaches" are happy to influence players to certain schools. But only if the schools are agreeable to the price.
