He could still coach, just not at the institution his best players are going to. For example, Marcus Randall is the coach at Southern Lab. His best player is committed to play for Alabama - there's nothing that says Marcus can't join the staff at Mississippi State or something of that nature. Good coaches will still move up the ranks.

Not if MS State recruited that player, or any other of his players.

I could be wrong, but I read it differently. The way I read it, if Mississippi State is RECRUITING Allen, even if he doesn't ultimately go there, then Marcus Randall could not go coach at State for 2 years.

Nothing about alumni players participating as scout skill players in practice?

This is the tweet from ESPNs reporter regarding this:

quote:

AFCA executive director Todd Berry said a "high majority" of FBS coaches are in favor of the IAWP legislation in the recruting reform package that would prohibit individuals associated with prospects from being hired for non-coaching positions like recruiting operations or analyst jobs. College basketball has a similar rule in place.

it looks like the coaches can be hired to actually coach just not for some BS analysit position

Like the early signing day.

And like the fact Nick will have to find more loopholes to continue to get the best players.

Wish they could close the giving parents of recruits a job window.

But this is good. Saban likes to hire assistant HS coaches of recruits as staffers.

When are the coach and player linked? At any point in Player A's HS career or only when Player A is a senior?

This might be the case, but that would make zero sense. I think OP meant if the player signs with your school, you can't bring the coach along as well.

Dead period in July is horrible that's how most kids get evaluated against better players and start to receive interest from schools

Major changes approved from coaches convention:

The only thing approved is that the coaches will make these recommendations. They don't make the rules.
