And CPM has always said he hates to play teams coached by someone he considers a friend.

He always said that about Van Horn, but Van Horn would kick his own mother's arse if it got him a sweep. Sometimes CPM was TOO nice.

You never know. Maybe he made bad investments and is strapped for cash.

And a CPM thread just wouldn't be right without this ...

He owned a lot of people for several years. The run of national seeds he had was really impressive. He just couldn't get to Omaha with a few teams I thought were a threat to win it all. Good coach for sure.

So because he won one title, we are just supposed to accept him not doing his job while the rest of college baseball was passing us up.

I mean Jay Johnson has won one title and we had someone starting a thread asking if he is the Saban of baseball.

Mainieri's run from 08-17 is not appreciated enough because our fanbase expected him to be Bertman... which is an insane ask.

Mainieri was a good coach while he was here. Multiple SEC titles, tournament titles, and a national championship. I hope he does well, other than when we play South Carolina.

So his neck is fine now? It's really starting to look like he was pushed out and a health excuse was made up for him. Or he just got better.

Wonder if he will ask any pitchers if they played 3rd base 3 days before the season and start them opening day. Or allow any pitchers to hit after asking them if they hit in high school.

The biggest problem with Paul during the 08-17 run was he admitted and absolutely took off two years 2010 and 2011 after winning a title.

Then we rode national seed after national seed but didn’t finish the job. Then he just stopped paying attention to recruiting and we went years without one lefty pitcher that was useable.
