according to SFP if he got shot at with a gun and they missed 3 times it's perfectly fine

there is a specific law against that

i mean specific to guns, even.

if you do that, you're breaking the law

So you think there's absolutely no difference at all in throwing at a guy's head vs. going low?

not per the rule

if you don't' like it, change the rule

I think if they threw at Katz lower body...we wouldn't be having this argument. The fact that you can't see the difference is troubling. You may need medication

No there isn't. It's still up to a judge/jury to determine the proper punishment for that, if there is one. Kind of like the ump determining the intent on a batter getting thrown at, and where.

now that's illogical. the rule doesn't make a distinction in body part

The rule says it's up to the umpire's discretion

SFP is a lawyer, right?

If so, it's hilarious that he is taking such a black-and-white approach to this.

The rule is subjective..,and the only reason there would be a rule is for safety reasons..duh. Is it safer to be hit n the head or the butt?

You missed the point completely. There is a reason it's left up to a judge/jury to determine INTENT on what was going on.

If there isn't a specific rule in the NCAA rulebook, it defaults to the baseball rulebook, which has emphasis on beanballs within the context of the previously mentioned rule.

Quit rationalizing a poorly conceived argument.

From the rules:
quote:

Rule 8.02(d) Comment: To pitch at a batter?s head is unsportsmanlike and highly dangerous. It should be? and is? condemned by everybody. Umpires should act without hesitation in enforcement of this rule.

SFP is someone who never played a sport...that's why the simple question was asked and answered several times before it got through (kind of like explaining hunting to girls who have never shot a gun)....

Probably would have been easier to take him to a batting cage and pitch to him...would have made a believer with one pitch.

Mississippi State deserves a scum bag like Cohen. Boy, I bet he is proud of his arse for trying to intimidate Katz. Losers like Cohen are a perfect fit for a trailer trash university like MSU. No wonder they have never won a NC in baseball.

BTW, I would really like to see how much of a badass Cohen thinks he is. Just my .02c

If he had a son and someone threw a 90 mph fastball close to his head on purpose..he would feel differently. But since he probably lives alone in his parents basement..he can amuse himself on his computer.

Baseball is a game that contains a particular code of ethics and unwritten rules. You don't like that or if you think thats illogical then tough. Get over it its the way the sport is played.

When a person breaks those unwritten rules then they are generally looked at as a douchebag. Thats the game. Dont like it? Then don't watch the game.
