He would be stupid to even try with Simmons… he has zero work ethic….. zero passion to become the best he can be…. Bottom line is that he got paid……
I'm not going to pile on to Ben Simmons takes... it's not where I go.

I was only commenting on the CJ/Mahmoud for LSU fans. That's all.

Simmons should get Kobe Bryant to lend a hand. Or help him get a leg up on the competition.

Well then he might as well ask Pete Maravich for help too.

Rudy's stats dont really match up to your story.

He played 2 years in the NBA.. his FT% went slightly down year 2, his FG% went slightly up year 2.. he averaged 6 shots a game year 1 and 5 shots a game year 2 (and if I were to guess still the vast majority of those shots were in the paint)

It’s crazy they are actually considering making him shoot with his right hand instead of his left.

I honestly think it's beyond that. For me it's like Jon Lester and not being able to throw to the bases thing....it's all mental. He needs a shrink not a shooting coach. I'm sure he's already done the 300 shots a day and shooting instructor things.

I get you, but could be a little different, because Simmons has never really done that.

And Lester "lost it" - yips, etc, mental, etc.

Simmons game hasn't really been challenged in some ways. (and my take is simplistic, so I'm not trying to disagree).

If he doesn't take MA-R up on it, it will be never.
But you can bet your arse it's not Ben's fault in Ben's mind. He knows all the words to say but just can't bring himself to do the work to improve. How could anyone interested in winning rings want this guy on your team when he can't make free throws/take the big shots!

Yes on the Shooting Instructor, of course. And you're right---he's probably gone through the motions. But he's got to TAKE THE COACHING! You can't tell me any reputable Shooting Coach would let him continue to shoot with that elbow position when he can't make free throws! Good practice doing the wrong things just solidifies the bad habits.
The Shrink would have a far harder time, but would get the same answer to any serious questions about life or basketball---"I don't know".

Wait, you're calling him racist for not supporting a racist university president?

it's actually not that crazy - Simmons apparently does everything else with his right hand. He may actually be right-handed.

I noticed very early when Simmons was here that he couldn't even shoot a left-handed layup. He'd drive to his left, elevate off the correct foot for a left-handed release, and then actually release (or dunk) with his RIGHT hand.

It was awkward and off-balance. Initially I thought it was just a one-off situation, but he did it routinely.

That made me think the guy didn't have any shooting ability (even layups) with his left hand and that he wasn't really left-handed.

I haven't kept up with the new LSU president and his history, so I'm not commenting on that.

But you do realize that it's not "racist" (whatever that even means anymore) to criticize someone who happens to be black.

You might have a point if the criticism is BECAUSE someone is black, but to have a difference of opinion from a person of a different race isn't racist at all. It's an issue-based disagreement.

For example, if Barrack Obama disagreed with me (a white dude) about an issue, is he a racist?

he sat for the national anthem. That might be okie-dokie with you, but not me.

On March 12, 1996, the NBA suspended Abdul-Rauf for his refusal to stand, costing Abdul-Rauf $31,707 per missed game. Two days later, he worked out a compromise with the league, whereby he would stand during the playing of the national anthem but could close his eyes and look downward.

If someone just paid me a million per year to shoot FT’s above 70 %, I would shoot FT’s for 8 hours per day.

The sob doesn't even know what hand to shoot with. Give me a fricking break.
Yes, he is talented. Must have been born with it because it appears he hasn't done a damn thing to improve his game.
At least Shaq would shoot 100s of free throws, trying to get better. I dont think lil benny even attempts to work on his shot outside of the lane.
I credit CJ with offering to work with him but BS work ethic up to this point has been pretty crappy IMO. So, I say him.
