This is pretty interesting, given the NFL talent we've had at QB, WR, and OL over the years. 2013 pops out at me the most.

Well, we shorten the game with our running game, and we still had one of the most potent offenses in college football last year. So, I'd rather have less attempts if it means that kinda offensive production anyway.

Indeed.
'Member when we strayed from the run and aired it out against Ole Miss last year? That went swimmingly.
Whatever works to achieve victory.

It's often uncited, but there it is in black and white. That ranking doesn't tell the true story of our passing attack last year, but it is interesting that there is little difference in ranking between 2011 (which seemed much more run-heavy) and 2013. Also hilarious that we were bitching about being ranked 91st in 2009.

Considering Mettenberger threw for 3000 yards, that's pretty damn impressive. Just goes to show how well he played without having to throw it a ton.

I'm not sure I would have believed you if you told me that was our ranking for pass attempts in 2013.

2008 really did a number on Miles' confidence throwing the ball. He REALLY needs to trust someone (Mett in 2013) to build a gameplan around the pass. That and if your run game is that good, why pass?

We are in full Schembechler mode. Notice how after the team became all Miles recruits, we sank to the bottom in pass attempts. Welcome to the future.

You should see what Cleveland did to Cincinnati in last night's game.

National Champs when we were in top 50

Yeah too bad we have sucked all these years, if only we would pass the ball more.
Go look at the top 50 teams, and tell me you would trade places with one of those teams. I know which one, but there is indeed only one.

Perhaps someone else feels like chipping in here and looking at what the respective BCS national champions were ranked in this stat each year.

If the offense is effective (moves the ball, controls the clock, wears down the D), who cares how many pass attempts we have? Obviously we're going through a lot of growing pains this year, but we've moved the ball effectively the last 3 games. I don't care if we throw the ball 3 times, if we move the ball the way we did against UF, UK and UM (minus turnovers

But what if it also leads to 3 losses most years?
