Sounds like the plot for the sequel to Footloose.

brain trust of this board
we need to have one game each season where this board is in complete control of everything, and I mean everything from Tiger Stadium music to play calling. That would make for some great reality television. I wonder if we would score a point.

My fan experience feedback every week is about the horrid piped in music. This week I recommended a compromise. They can do the piped in music in the first quarter and then when the population they are targeting have left, they can just let the band play.

I went to Rutgers game on Friday night. Their band played a lot - which was great. Their piped in music had a lot of NJ theme - Bon Jovi, they played a Sopranos clip then Don't Stop Believing. They played current music - but pop stuff that people got up and danced to.

The whole atmosphere was fun. It had like a AA baseball game feel - in a good way. Every TV time out, they gave away a TV. Lots of fireworks.

For a moment, both bands were trying to outdo each other and it looked like we were well on our way to having a good ol' fashioned band battle.

I’m in my 30s and not a get off my lawn type Tiger fan (no piped in music, don’t change the stadium, etc)… but I have to say USA responding as kind of a “battle” is pretty bad arse and sucks piped in music ruined that.

Highly doubt that’s why people left though. In fact I’m positive it’s not.

I conceded a long time ago that we have lost the piped in music battle. Tiger Stadium and the Superdome. Noise pollution is here to stay and there is nothing we can do about it.

The USA band was awesome. However... I thought it was crazy that their band waited about 10 minutes after the game was over to play their 6 minute alma mater and the their 3 minute fight song after they just got their clocks cleaned. Our team, GBFTL and remaining fans were patiently waiting on the field to play our alma mater but USA took so long that GBFTL finally started playing but you couldn't hear either band over the noise.

There’s a long history of using the PA to cover up the opposing band. It’s gamesmanship that’s happened for ages.

The live DJ is the worst addition to any game.

Throughout the country there's this apparent attitude among game producers that a single moment of quiet would immediately ruin the night for 95,000 live fans.

It doesn't matter if you have The Golden Band from Tigerland or the New York Philarmonic, some clown in the Game Production booth is going to drown it out with recorded noise at ear-splitting volume because that is what he was ordered to do at the midweek production meeting.

I've been to these things (not at LSU). All the professional leagues and most of the college conferences have off-season "workshops" where they tell people that quiet is their enemy. Just go to any NBA game.

You can tell that there's no semblance of the LSU PA crew working hand-in-hand with the band. It's annoying as hell.

I'm not saying there needs to Cool Jazz or Yanni music played all night. I'm just saying they need to tone it down. Less is more.
Quit ruining the game experience at Tiger Stadium for the 85,000 ticket buyers who aren't students.

It’s not a better tv product either. Watching Nuss try to run out onto the field and him getting pissed when he had to stop for a 3 minute tv timeout after a punt is peak “FU fans.”

That's the thing. LSU used to be great for spontaneous crowd noise. The piped in music absolutely kills any of that.

Hell last night there was a random bass thudding no matter what. Stadium announcement? Bass. Video highlights? Bass. Fan contest? Bass. Not connected to anything happening, just random.

I remember when a number of schools started using piped in music during their football games, and I was grateful that LSU stuck with the tradition of the band and crowd supplying the atmosphere. It was unique and special. I was proud that LSU would never abandon the H-style goal posts, the yard lines being marked every five yards, and the band being the sound track to Tiger football. I was proud that LSU was unique and would always remain that way.

Until it didn't.

Not only did LSU follow what every other school did, they decided to up the ante and become one of the worst offenders in the country at destroying the stadium experience for their own fans. You know, the paying customers, the people who actually support the program.

If they're trying to appease the students, it ain't working. They flood out of that place like they had been forced to attend, then were finally given the green light that it's okay to leave.

LSU asks for feedback on the gameday experience, but they either don't pay attention or truthfully don't care what their customers think.

Doesn't he/she have some ridiculous title like "Director of Fan Engagement" or something of the sort? Whomever it is, or whomever they are that make the decisions, they are either stupid or just don't care. Even when they try to follow what other schools do, I.e. the light show, they do it badly.

I don't have enough money to get scotts attention but i'm sure somebody does. It's gonna take somebody with some deep pockets to do some complaining. It's a miserable experience. You can't just ignore it.
One of "You People" that hate PIM as much as me and other TBA's do, are going to have to contact a Baton Rouge or SE Louisiana Attorney to get it stopped.

I talked to Attorney Jill Craft several times many years ago during the Roy King firing fiasco. She was Roy's Attorney and she got LSU to pay him a pretty good settlement.

CALL HER. If somebody local will call her and discuss the problem and a "Cause of Action" she may possibly help.

Yall can't continue to just complain on here and to the Athletic Department. That's a waste of time.

It will take an Attorney getting involved to have any chance of any substantial action taken.
