LSU can roll out a front seven next year of:

JACK: Jack Pyburn
DT: Dom McKinley
NT: Sydir Mitchell
DE: Gabriel Reilford, Patrick Payton (waiting on commitment, seems locked in)

STAR: Harold Perkins (barring return)
MIKE: Whit Weeks
WLB: Davion Keys

Pair this with the best secondary we’ve had in the BK era and this defense can be really good… still need to lock up 2 safeties but there’s some rumors floating around we have them…. But they haven’t entered yet.

Geaux Tigers!

Even just one really solid starting safety. I am sure someone will step up or be moved to that other spot. I love what they have done (if we get Payton). Has a chance to be worlds better.

7 collegiate Seasons combined

786 total snaps (LSU had 748 defensive snaps in 2024, for scale).

Spears can be a good safety I think. He showed promise. We have players here already too.

Let’s not bank on a portal kid with limited experience to be “dangerous”. You should know by now that just being on our roster doesn’t make you great.

Nebraska transfer Butler is going to be ahead of Relliford, if I had to guess, and Payton would be ahead of both.

Guillory still probably ahead of Dom, but 4 man DT rotation of Mitchell, Dom, Guillory, Breaux, should be nasty.

DE/Jack rotation similar with 4 guys that could be nasty - Butler, Reliford, Payton, Pyburn, possibly Cobbins, Carpentet. We got some guys all over the DL now.

1 really good safety would be the chef’s kiss. I’m ok rolling with Spears at the other spot in knowing the VT CB can definitely play safety also. He played both at VT.

On paper, by far the best personal at all 3 levels in the BK era.

Exactly. Think about Ole Miss fans being excited about Sage Ryan. We know what Sage Ryan is.

Sage is a great example of how we do the same thing to ourselves every year for every transfer portal get. We just blindly assume they will be good.

Yeah Guillory will start at DT.

I also think one really good safety and we might be good. I can see Spears and/or Toviano stepping up. As long as Gilbert doesn't start.

You think thats better than what we had last year going into the season? I think its very similar talent wise. The depth will definitely be a huge plus 3rd and fourth quarter when alot of teams ran just through us this year. I hope Weeks and Keys make huge leaps, that could definitely improve things. Penn was a very smart Lb but had very average athletic abilities.

I would move Davhon to Mike, it’ll allow Whit less traffic when it comes to taking on blockers and Keys a True Mike

DLine 2-deep should be really solid, also expecting West to get significant snaps at LB.

If we can add Payton, that front 7 can be filthy. With the CBs we are adding and some versatility of other DBs for safety and possibly another quality S addition, this can be a great defense. Baker will have so much to work with. Maybe the biggest combo of depth and talent he's ever had.

To me the only question mark heading into 25 is the oline, and its a big one.

Every other spot is playoff level, minus safety.

If I'm Woodward, I'd pay several million to break that contract with Clemson.

Don’t forget Ahmad Breaux. I think he will become a beast in year 2. Also, Jacobian Guillory will be back for year 7 as a super senior.

How much money do they need to be convinced to stay at LSU for the whole season and play with effort?
