Or he has nothing to lose because he knew LSU was set to fire him with cause if he didn’t take this deal.

That makes no sense. If Alleva wanted to fire Wade and had cause, why didn't he? Because he was sly enough to recognize an opportunity to save money? Oh yeah. Sounds exactly like Allleva's history of shrewd negotiating to me! LOL!

My guess is this was a peace offering. Alleva and the cronies were desperate to save face. In the big picture of Wade's career it means nothing.

Why some of you seem giddy over this is amusing. Are you bitter about Wade coming back or Alleva getting fired? Both?

This was predictable, It’s part of the family discount deal. Woodward kicks something back to Emmert In exchange for no investigation and Wade has to throw in his part to Woodward. No big deal and many predicted something like this would happen.

He didn’t want to fire him. That has always been pretty clear.

He just could have. And Wade knows it and his actions show it especially with this new amendment

Under two amendments he agreed the school add to his contract,

1. LSU can fire Wade for cause if he is found to have committed Level I or Level II NCAA violations, or
2. if the NCAA infractions committee issues a formal notice of Level 1 or Level 2 violations to LSU involving the coach.
3. Wade also agreed to waive the $250,000 in performance bonuses he contractually earned in 2018–19.

This reads to me as Coach Wade put his money to match his integrity.

FKing and JA panicked and made a bad PR move. They then used the bad PR move of their own creation as leverage against WW as a condition of reinstatement.

And it rightfully cost JA his job and it should soon cost FKing his too. WW gets his $2m but forgoes $250k. It’s just another in a string of ham handed blunders by the University and athletic department. So now Joe can tan in his backyard but yeah they extracted $250k from the coach they really wanted to keep. Good riddance dicknose

Hey gave up the 250k to pass it on to Woodward for relocation so he could have a real AD.

Thanks for playing.

You have no clue how college athletics works if you don’t think there are many programs who would take Will Wade in a heartbeat if given the chance.

Wade gave up a quarter of a million dollars and some security and the posters here believe that he's in the position of strength. It's utterly amazing.

I don’t think people realize that there was a clause in Wades contract stating that any bonus money lost during suspension would have to be repaid if he were to be reinstated.

LSU has Wade by the balls. Woodward already addressing the biggest elephant in the room. Lipseys comment about this not being over makes more sense now. Hopefully Wade really does have his ducks lined up

the cognitive dissonance in this thread is breathtaking.

some of y'all apparently think Wade returned $250k he'd rightfully earned to LSU and allowed them to add amendments to his contract giving the school the right to fire him with cause because he's got LSU by the balls?

Exactly right. Will Wade loves LSU and is committed to being here for a very long time. He’s a man of great integrity, moral fiber, and loyalty.

He’s a great young man and I’m proud LSU has a championship winning coach who is invested in our university.
