Good! No reason to let the competition get extra info

So now players are refusing to play in spring games? We give these kids way too much power. To many premadonas. Let the ones play who want to play and take the nil away from the ones who are scared!

The idea that teams are getting a bunch of information from spring games is so overblown imo. I’m saying that as someone who is completely fine with not have spring games

You don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s nothing about the kids not wanting to compete. Coaches don’t want players getting poached

Where did this narrative come from? I’m seeing teams cancelling their traditional spring games left and right

Who said it was the players?

LSU fans.... can't make up their minds. They complain when players play in games that don't matter, like a cupcake OOC game.... now they're complaining because there's not a spring game. WOW!!

As a coach, I always wanted an extra practice & maybe a controlled scrimmage every year over a glorified spring game. I support this move...

I don’t think the coaches want to make a depth chart. That just pisses players off if they’re low and they may go into the portal to jump from say WR6 to WR4 somewhere else…or the player you have high right now asks for more money.

That's ok. At least we're having it open to the public.

Good spring game is just a scrimmage anyways.

It’s also in baseball and crawfish season so no need for it

That is why you time spring practice to where it finishes after the portal closes

This right here. It’s probably been 20 years since it had any significance.

As I see it, that’s what it has always been. Nothing more than an open practice and a chance for the players to showcase what they have been practicing.

I typically enjoy the spring game. Typically comes at a time when I am jonesing for some football. A chance for me and my buds to get together during the off-season for couple of hours in Tiger Stadium where there is not much at stake. When done, we get cleaned up and go out for a good steak and drink some whiskey.

What’s not to like about that?
