Who gives a damn. Rank LSU #4....it doesn't matter. Let's take down "#1" Ohio State then #2 or 3 and call it a season.

This. Also imagine we destroy A&M and OSU struggles against or loses to Michigan. Eye test that, committee.

Our defense is why we are not #1. The committee is sending a clear message. Our schedule is better than OSU’s but they have no confidence in our D. I hope the staff and players are understanding this message

LSU D needs to show up big. Aranda gets paid a frick ton, and he needs to give the results

No, but the path absolutely affects your odds of winning the whole thing. If you can avoid one of the 2 best opponents in the first game, it’s a huge advantage.

I am glad they will be #2. Because it is going to put a huge chip on these boys shoulders. Cannot imagine what that locker room is going to be like tomorrow. And they are going to take it out on A&M and UGA.

Thanks CFP. You just did the best thing you could have done for this young team. Motivated them and helped them to focus down the stretch.

I said all of this to myself on my drive home tonight. My exact feelings as well.

no,

alabama should not get in over a 1 loss conference chance.

this has nothing to do with it.

lsu wins these next two games they have a great chance at #1

Been saying this

But also use the AP and coaches poll.. just use a mix of them all.. where we are all #1

can't stand the idea of a committee and politicking.

So if Alabama gets beat by Auburn we would still face Clemson instead of a Utah ( possibly)... yea frick all that give us our number 1 ranking that we deserve, I’ll take my chances with a fourth seeded team even it’s Alabama without Tua

The problem with your assumption is that it ignores the obvious disadvantage that comes with not being number 1 in this playoff. Whoever is number 1 does not have to worry about playing LSU AND Clemson, or LSU and Ohio State, or Clemson and Ohio State, in LSU's case.

Those three teams are CLEARLY the best three teams, with Tua now being out. Teams like Georgia and Utah are not overly impressive, and I'm not deceived by Alabama blowing out Western Carolina with Mac Jones. Bama's offense went stone cold in the Mississippi State game after Tua went down.

This isn't to suggest that it's a guarantee to beat any of those teams. Of course not. Nor does it mean that LSU should fear Clemson and OSU. But let's not pretend that one path isn't, on paper, considerably less stressful than the other. Whichever team comes out of the 2 vs 3 matchup, will have played a very physical game.

And I hate that the committee uses "eye test". That's entirely subjective. Yeah, LSU's defense has struggled. But do they think that same Ohio State team that beat an overrated PSU team, which had a backup QB playing basically the entire second half, by 11 points at home would have beaten Alabama on the road? And what about LSU's wins over Auburn and Florida? Even the win over Texas, as overrated as they were, was on the road in a highly emotional season opening game. I'd say that stacks up as a more impressive win than beating Cincinnati, who has been stacking up 5 point victories over 3 and 4 win teams.

The resume is what should matter. But the committee is too lazy to examine anything, so they just go with whatever their gut tells them.

Yes, of course, us (SEC) fans never had a problem with the BCS formula.. and we all still believe it's the purest way to select the best teams.

The power brokers of the other 4 P5 conferences would NEVER agree a top 4 using the BCS formula.... After 2011 there was (and still is) a fear that a top 4 using the BCS formula would annually result in 2 SEC teams in top 4 and *GASP* maybe a year works out where 3/4 SEC teams were selected. The committee is their way to ensure the other P4 conferences have a seat at the table.

At this point I'm hoping chaos ensues, Bama crashes the party and we get a 2011 style rematch in NOLA. frick the system blow it all up or expand but I agree at premise of the thread.. the committee doesnt move us back upon if we win out.

You are assuming LSU wins the next 2 games if they win only one they will be ranked #4.

actually now that they’ve been bumped down if we lose to uga, there’s a good chance that they will push us on down to 5th. I wouldn’t put it past this stupid committee.

LSU will be #2 in the final cfb playoff rankings behind Ohio State. This will allow the committee to avoid an LSU Alabama rematch in the 1 vs 4 game.
Bama isn't getting in. The Committee has OU and Utah set to jump them. Probably Baylor too, if BU wins out.

Are there scenarios where Bama gets in?
Sure.

There are also scenarios where LSU, UGa, and Bama get in.
But they are unlikely.

So saying the Committee demoted LSU based on the premise that Alabama would be the number 4 seed is silly.

The committee doesn't use reason as based on what we got from them this week.

LSU will jump to #1 with a win over UGA only if Oklahoma or Utah win their conference championship jumping them to #4

Not sure of the 'strategy' behind the #2 ranking BUT, I like the motivation factor that it provides our defense.
