With the amount of experience we have on the defense we are going to be a force to reckon with whether our offense comes along or not. Lawrence and Fehoko are going to be All-SEC caliber players. D White is going to have a legitimate shot at being an All American along with Greedy. The recent addition of Terrence Alexander really solidifies a DB group that was already one of the best in the SEC. Saftey might be the deepest position on the field with elite athlete Grant Delpit and super senior John Battle getting backed up by former 5 stars Eric Monroe and Jacoby Stevens. I still see Georgia or Bama taking the number 1 spot in the SEC but I expect our tigers to be right there.

This is a great example of sliding expectations. It used to be we were disappointed if our entire team wasn't number 1 in the SEC. Now, it's really cool if our best unit is #2.

You would be unhappy if our 2018 defense was ranked #2 in the SEC?

HA what !? Expectations are only based on performance. If we were #2 last year it would be reasonable to expect to be #1 this year. We weren't. Until otherwise proven my expectations will be realistic not just based on my love of LSU.

It's gonna be tough this year. Talent and performance don't exist in a vacuum, you have to account for the offenses you're gonna face.

LSU will face 3 of the top 4 SEC offenses from last year, and they're all returning their QBs (AU, Bama, UGA). Plus MSU is getting Fitz back (albeit off a serious injury).

I expect LSU's D/Aranda to put us in great position to win games this season, but those Offenses are gonna get their yards.

I agree, we return our best DL our best LBer and our best CB. Also both safeties return. LaCouture and Gilmore had solid seasons, but we definitely upgrade up front with Alexander and Fehoko. I’m anxious to see who emerges as the starter opposite Devin White. Tyler Taylor got the majority of snaps while Donnie was hurt last year but Patrick Queen seems to be having a solid spring.

We may be looking at another season of our defense keeping us in games. LSU will probably need Honey Badger type plays to win some of these games.

Everything depends on the corners. If Greedy goes down we are fuched.

Only concern I have on D is CB. The signing of the kid from Stanford could help, but that still leaves us very susceptible to injury.

So that should put this team int the top of the list - Bama was #1 & GA #6 overall. That should keep us in a few more games than the haters want to see.

My favorite player on the defense besides Devin White is Grant Delpit. I like the way he comes up and make tackles and plus he has good range on the deep balls. He made some freshman mistakes but he is a year older now and experienced. The kid reminds me of Laron Landry. Hes gonna be fun to watch this year imo.

As we sit here on 4/13, there is no team or defensive coaching staff in the country with whom I’d make a wholesale trade - like all of ours for all of theirs - players or coaches.

Without offense moving the chains, our defense will suffer. 3 & outs again and again will waredown any defense late in game.

#1-3 defense
# 6-10 offense

Gets us 9-10 wins imo.
