I’m thinking tonight’s game is going to be a tough one. Really hoping our offense gets going early like it did last night.

Should be a close, tough game. USM is throwing their Friday night guy. He’s had a great year and did shut down Miss. St. for nearly eight innings. So he’s got the ability to beat an SEC lineup. Both offenses seem to be hot. Tonight is their shot though. USM has very little pitching depth and isn’t coming back out of the losers bracket.

USM is red hot. LSU is definitely on an upward trend, too. I think this has the makings of a very good baseball game. I envision it like the early part of the ASU-USM game, where each pitcher was dialed in and the teams clawed at each other. I just don't see USM being able to bully LSU like they did ASU when Marsh left. And, LSU won't fold up like that. In fact, I can see the opposite happening - LSU chasing their starter, USM's bullpen struggling, and LSU going in for the kill.

LSU 9, USM 4.

Is tonight’s guy the ace on USM’s staff or the guy that pitched last night?

Powell is the Friday night guy and I feel like he’s the better pitcher. He’s got to hit his spots though. Guy who threw yesterday has the best velocity and pure stuff. He’s had Tommy John in the past though.

Powell probably only tops out in the upper 80’s. So nothing like the kid they threw yesterday. And he’s not gonna strike a lot of people out. That’s why hitting his spots is imperative. Tries to get weak contact. Has a pretty good curveball.

We need to get to their bullpen early. I’m thinking Henry will limit their offense.

USM’s guy has pitched 94 innings. I’m hoping he’s got a little dead-arm going.

So he’s basically Eric Walker?

Powell is a pitch to contact guy.

Ball coming to the plate at a serious downward trajectory with his height.

Fastball, cutter, curve are his main pitches.

No change, so he has no real out pitch to lefties. Y’all are not a good match up for him.

Eric Walker does not top out in the upper 80's.
