It never stops. In two or three years, there will be another fee increase for some other dreamed-up reason.

George, you really think this is a great idea? You think this isn't going to have a negative impact on the great tradition of LSU tailgating?

Next I expect to see a fee to set up a tent. BTW supposed to be one tent, some set up multiple tents side by side. You want 5 tents? How about $250 p/game?

LSU tailgating is #1 in the country....
our administration just fixed that problem in 1 day

actually. that "cat" arguing for just has a logo by his name as a joke. he is more close to LSU athletics than you ever will be.

Honestly for me I enjoy watching the game under my tent at our tailgate.... so the "need" for me to be in TS isnt there anymore anyways... Watching on tv and playing golf on saturdays is starting to seem like a much more realistic option.
make a couple big games a year but thats enough.
Sweet. I'm gonna swoop in and steal BT's spot!
Posted on 11/17/10 at 8:41 am to TheoreticalTiger
isn't BT the one who would move people tents if they got there before him at "his" tailgating spot?

some random thoughts on the subject:
- $40 and $50 for a utility trailer seems too high...
- you should be able to purchase in advance with a numbered permit AND for the entire season
- part of this could be beyond money, to encourage carpooling...a 15 person van is charged the same amount of money as a two passenger car....
- the ideal tailgate vehicle for the future looks like a crew cab pickup truck (hauls 6 people and all tailgate equipment...
- why not charge for RESERVED tailgate space and reduce the parking fee (however see my earlier thought on reducing traffic)

I think the problem is that we as fans don't have a "want" to park.

frick LSU... I'm gonna become a Southern Jags fan. Condon is always talking about how they only fill about 1/3 of their stadium. I bet I could save a ton of money switching teams...
Posted on 11/17/10 at 8:50 am to vl100butch
Well, honestly I don't disagree with charging to park but the prices seem steep to me. They should've gone with a more gradual change.
Guess they figured everyone was gonna bitch about it anyway.

once again.....offer season ticket holders who do not have parking passes first rights to these new pay lots
seems reasonable enough, huh?
Why so you can scalp them too? I donate to TAF every year and still have to scalp to get season tickets from someone different every fricking year. Why do fans own the rights to tickets to games that they never attend?

Oh, and you think turnout is bad for smaller games like ULM or McNeese? There will be NOBODY there now.

and then for some games you will have half empty lots or more people getting there just an hour before game time. this will kill tailgating in those areas.

how do you choose priority? who gets what spot? are you willing to tell treedawg he can't set up in his usual area because someone was two spaces ahead of him in the first come first serve line?

To charge for the Hayfield and Levee lots is ridiculous. I might as well just park in Geismer.

At that rate it's cheaper to take a taxi from Stanford. Better yet, I'm seriously going to start dropping off my icechest, park on Stanford and ride my bike there.

Hell, we tailgate off of Highland damn near all the way to Chimes St... there's no way I'm paying $40 to park a mile away from the stadium.
Posted on 11/17/10 at 9:04 am to LSUtigerfan333
LSUFAN why are you defending this? are you on the LSU Payroll? Tell me how this is a good thing for everyone and not just a money grab for LSU. the tradition fund just went up each of the last three years to over 1.5 more than it was, someone at LSU in bringing in more money. Concession prices are through the roof. Tell me how this is good?
I'll hang up and listen....

In case people missed it! The following pictures is the main reason we are going to such a system to discourage tailgating. However the new policies will not curb this kind of animal behaviour and these groups will continue to trash campus.
