Campus cleanup is already in the budget. And FWIW, the worst areas are the fraternities, are they not? And they don't park on campus, do they?

Yes, I'm well aware of the athletic budget in regards to waste management.
LSU wants less tailgating. PERIOD! I think the new parking regs at the prices they are is complete BS.
The groups pictured will not be affected at all by the new regs. They will continue to trash campus after every game. Groups like this are causing every tailgater to suffer now. Its time fans step up and report groups like this.

mud, you think anyone can explain this one to me?

The Athletic Dept is a profitable venture. Those trash pictures are terrible but don't put a dent in the budget. Louisianians are trashy. Look at the streets. People throw trash out like it is nothing. It is disgusting. But the folks arguing for the fee are mixing up the arguments. You are probably the folks who are staying home.

Isn't waste pick up like 30,000 per game. Doesn't Lofton Staffing provide all the labor for game day clean up?
Why does LSU want to get rid of tailgating when it is such a long and deep tradition. There has to be ways to penalize those doing the harm. I agree, Nicholson from Gourrier to the extension is a wreck and it is all college kids and recent grads that destroy that area. We used to be down there before they pushed us off campus and we never, ever made a mess. But I have to say, they bring us garbage cans and recyling bins and we use all of them. There has to be a better way than this.

Hey pal you need to mind yourself with that broad stroke bullshite. I am born and raised in Lousiana as well as have been tailgating in a crew and going to everyone home game sicne 1995 and we never have disrespected the campus and I never through trash around. Even when i am on my boat, everything even the cigarette butts of those with me stay in the trash. So you can GTFO with this it is just Louisiana bullshite.

No, 9 trash trucks are budgeted, emptying each dumpster, can (like EBR) pick up, plus groups and prisoners. There are various contracts for different parts of campus incorporated into one overall budget for trash pickup.

We park along Nicholson, looks like that will still be free...but with some serious competition.

I did not read this whole thread, but I wanted to add that Joe Alleva spoke to Lombardi's history class a few weeks back.
I asked Alleva about this pay-for-parking concept and if he ultimately would support people "renting" space on campus to tailgate in prime locations in the same way people at Bama pay to reserve a spot and set up on the Quad.
Alleva told the class while he supported the idea of paying for parking, he would not support the idea of paying for space to set up and said he hoped the university wouldn't ever go to a bama-like system.

On your map I only see blue and green shaded areas. Where are the pink $40 shaded areas?
Posted on 11/17/10 at 10:00 am to Ford Frenzy
It would be difficult. No marked spots, etc. We will just have to get there earlier friday and leave a car or two to block off space. We're students, FWIW, who are not about to pay another 250 a season.

You can't get further "into" campus than Highland Rd. without a pass.

Tailgating on the Parade Ground for the ULM game was already dead, imagine what it is going to be like next year.
And its quite clear this is a Tailgating Tax, given that they are going to stop charging 3 hours before gametime.
