yeah actually it does. it might as well be the definition of it.

§732. Price gouging; prohibited
A. During a state of emergency as declared by the governor or as declared by the parish president, or during a named tropical storm or hurricane in or threatening the Gulf of Mexico, the value received for goods and services sold within the designated emergency area may not exceed the prices ordinarily charged for comparable goods and services in the same market area at, or immediately before, the time of the state of emergency. However, the value received may include reasonable expenses and a charge for any attendant business risk, in addition to the cost of the goods and services which necessarily are incurred in procuring the goods and services during the state of emergency.

B. Each sale or offer for sale in violation of this Section constitutes a separate offense.

C. The penalties provided in R.S. 29:734 are in addition to civil remedies provided by law, including attorney's fees.

D. Local governing authorities may adopt appropriate ordinances to implement the provisions of this Section.

That's our state law.

So it's no where near "price gouging?"

In fact, it's the opposite. LSU is charging a fee dictated by supply and demand. I guarantee that if, after 2011, they look back and had plenty of spots opend during games, the price will fall.

If you don't like the prices don't go. I promise that there will plenty of people lined up to pay. Going to a game and parking where you want is not your right. It is a privledge and in these economic times, where many things at the university are getting cut, they have come with a good way to make aditional income. I actually appluade them for their resourcefulness. Please quit the bitching.

if $92,600 per game is not enough for cleanup ($1/ticket goes to cleanup costs) then they need to privitize

Agreed. Here's the math:

$92,600 / 1 guy making $10 an hour working an 8 hour day = 1,157 workers

And let's just take out $1,500 in consumables (garbage bags and gas), still comes out to 1,138 workers.

Ain't no way in hell they have that many people on campus working cleanup after a game at any one time.

Of course, I have no problem with charging because in a selfish sense, I don't have to pay that right now. Maybe I'll change my tune when I do. But I kind of like that your average bandwagoning tailgater that couldn't give a shite about the game won't be so ready to park on campus and clog up traffic.

My complaint is that LSU just needs to come out and say that the money is going towards the deficit. Don't insult our intelligence by making up some bullshite about adding bathrooms and cleanup costs.

Yeah, those figs probably won't have a totally awesome DJ set up like you either.

This isn't going to change tailgating much. The parade grounds will still be PACKED. People will just have to think through the logistics a little more, and LSU will have some funds to play with since their budget is being gouged.

Does it suck for those who were getting a free ride previously? yup. But it won't change much. Actually, i'd be willing to bet, if you're honest with yourself, you'll be in the same spot next year. You will probably make the others who mooch off of your setup pony up. And they should.

Actually, I'm trying show people how absolutely ridiculous they are being by whining about this.

You were the one that started throwing "price gouging" around. It was foolish.

The prices are on par with most other major programs.

So any reasonable person who doesn't exist in the five minutes in front of their face isn't worth talking to?

(yeah, feels as gay typing it as it does reading it when you typed it)

If people don't come because they have to pay $20 to park (they don't have to do the $40), then...did they really belong on campus to begin with? Seriously? Is $20 among a car of 2-4 people really that much? Would someone REALLY think "I'd love to go, but I don't want to pay that $20 to eat, drink and party."

not everyone is a hardcore tailgater. they like to come out for several hours then leave. they arent going to do that for $40. and good luck parking in the free lots. Im sure those wont fill up by 9am at all.

LSU uses clean up costs as an excuse. They are getting lowest bidder already and I believe it is inmates which still cost money but it has to be alot cheaper than a private company.

Bottomline is LSU is doing what most schools do in the SEC and probably most major universities that sell out home games. Everything is about the dollar and it will never change. We are lucky they haven't done it sooner.

This seasons trash service contract was lower than previous years trash pickup.

LSU Tailgating will be forever altered as a result of the new parking policies.

Knee jerk reaction. Anytime there is a price increase this is said but people get over it and pay up. I think it sucks but I understand why they will charge....too make more $$$$.

I doubt it. Time heals all wounds. If the price of charcoal, propane, meat, alcohol etc went up would people not tailgate?

Almost all tailgate groups have people who come to campus and tailgate and watch the game at the tailgate or go to a nearby bar. They arent going to pay $20 to park just to have the right to tailgate for a few hrs.

My tailgate group will be cut in half as a result. These arent free loaders either, they are LSU alums but many just want to be a part of the gameday atmosphere and tailgate and see friends. They will stay at home now.

Well I'm also not happy about the charges, since I am usually the first one out to our spot, I usually end up riding alone to the game. This $20 per car per game is gonna hurt my budget.

Most of you folks that say quit bitching are not new alumni like I am and have a lot more money than I do. I spend about one month's pay on my tickets because I love watching my tigers that much. Not to mention my tickets are at the very top. Not in the lower bowl. Season ticket holders should either get a discounted rate or a free pass. Haven't we paid enough?
