Any overreaction, by definition is excessive.
But LSU and its fans, are major stakeholders by any definition. And they, too have financial interests.
And it IS LSU's game (and BYU's). Advocare etc. have agreed to act as hosts for the game. There is good reason to believe that, for reasons beyond their control, they may not be able to host. BUT, delay in making that decision is in the financial interests of the hosts, where it is NOT in the interest of other stakeholders like LSU.
Bottom line, it is not unreasonable for LSU and its fans to become vocally concerned first.

Thank you for posting that. I don't get some of the people in this thread. LSU is not the one making the decision in this scenario. They are one of many entities involved in the scheduling of the game. However, I think the people with the final say are Advocare/Texas Bowl and ESPN. And I don't think they would be too happy if they lost any viewers or attendees because our AD came out a week before the game and said there is a chance the game might happen at a different place or time.

Concern about the game is warranted.

Complaints about Alleva and a statement not explicitly stating contingency plans, over a week before kickoff, is still an overreaction.

Agree totally. I'm fricking tired of talking and worrying about weather instead of a football game for the the third straight year.

People don't like hearing this kind of stuff. The reality is those who pony up the money have the most input in these decisions. Sure, LSU and BYU will be included in the discussion. Money does the talking.

I get it. Fans are frustrated with all these weather related games. Maybe Harvey will give us a break.

My T is around 1000 and I'm getting a little nervous because I have no faith in Alleva when it comes to situations like this.

No contingency plan; no care
They shouldn't have to say anything at this point, the storm is going to be a non factor for this game, and if it happens to become one, that fact is not known yet.

Everybody needs to calm down. I was told Alleva right now is in tough negotiations with BYU to have the LSU game played that Saturday in Baton Rouge at 10:30 am and in return we will play BYU for the next 5 years in Provo...in December.

Can we get a sticky thread with actual information rather than a bunch of jackasses arguing?

Agreed. I know it's beyond everyone's control but damn it is getting old. It's becoming an annual event.

3 PM Friday Stormtracker update:

"Houston/Galveston to Beaumont/Port Arthur: Off and on heavy squalls moving inland today through Monday, producing several inches of rainfall per day. Some squalls may contain small, short-lived tornadoes. Heaviest rain will come on Tuesday through Thursday of next week as Harvey passes to the west. Torrential rain and extensive flooding is possible."

Take it for what it's worth -- but if the "heaviest rains" actually do hit Houston on Thursday and there is widespread flooding... having a game on Saturday night would be difficult, in my opinion.

Bottom line -- they won't move the game a week out, not KNOWING and by the time they KNOW - there will be no opportunity to move the game.

Just my opinion.

I understand the frustration, but honestly, what would you like them to do/say? Technology today can't even predict rain in the next couple hours, but you expect accurate predictions of a strange hurricane and where it might go, flooding, etc?

This awkward path is a little unprecedented, and with all the wild development in the Houston area the past few years, no telling what will happen.

Not sure of the options but cancelling the game would be best. It would open up hotels and have less people putting a strain on the area
