I've heard no complaints about his recruiting.

But hell, he just has to flash that Superbowl ring, and with LSU's already great reputation as a steppingstone to the NFL, CP and LSU would go together like a hand-in-glove.

I don't think he's ever been fired as a DC ... he's always been part of a regime change when a head coach gets fired.

So what makes you think he will take the DC position if he turned Down TAM? What do you guys think of the timeframe for the hire?

If this happens, this will quite possibly be the most bipolar football weekend I've had in a long time.

FWIW, I was just told that a conversation took place Monday with Pendergast. He is still a possibility, but Miles would like someone with experience recruiting in the SEC.

Good question. But he has coached with Les before, so there's a connection that wasn't there with A&M.

Also, I'd be optimistic that the talent waiting for him in Baton Rouge would be a consideration for him that the Aggies could not offer.

I don't think the chief decision was all about the money.

I think one of the reasons Miles was willing to let him walk.

I don't know why this thread is blowing up as if we've hired him. We don't even know if he wants to coach at LSU.

This guy is supposedly great at crushing the spread which is a must for a DC.

I would think that Super Bowl ring on his finger would do some mighty big talking to SEC recruits.

Miles is an idiot if he lets this guy go. This about as good as it gets considering the limited options we have. It's late in the coaching carousel.

Diaz would be a terrible hire. No if ands or buts about it.

Looking at game results and he seems to have a few duds every year

2010:
52 points to Nevada
48 points to USC
48 points to Stanford

2011:
43 points to Oregon

2012:
49 points to Utah
59 points to Oregon
62 points to Oregon State

2013:
62 points to Arizona State

Chavis never allowed more than 44 points at LSU and opponents reached 40 points only twice.

It's as good a fit as he's going to find if wants to find himself on a head coach career track. I can't think of an open D-coordinator position in college football with more talent at its disposal than LSU.

I'm sure he'll at least seriously consider it, especially given his ties to CLM.
