LSU is known for it's tailgate experience and they are really trying to bring it to an end i suppose.

the LSU tailgate experience is way way way more than the students tailgates. the students tailgates are like the infield at the Kentucky Derby; they should be cordoned off and the perimeter patrolled by the police. charge every student an entrance fee (for the cleanup) and then charge them a medical fee (for the damn medics that have to be there).

imo, binge drinking has ruined a lot of tailgates. drinking is great but being so drunk that you can't even make the game is juvenile.

I used to know the guys in the picture from the article and i can guarentee you they've never been to a function of Greek life, or any function that involved alcohol and women simultaneously

Do you know how big campus is? Huge.

Tailgate somewhere else, parade grounds is dominated by Greeks not family friendly. Sorry if my fraternity, or others ruined your experience but cmon

Stupid shite like this is going to turn public opinion against your cause. I think everyone agrees this is stupid, but the parade grounds isn't your personal property or the Greeks. Settle down.

Why don't students just have "unofficial" tailgates and don't affiliate themselves explicitly with an organization?

She said technically students groups are required to register their tailgates under the current guidelines, it just rarely happens.

“These are very large parties that are unsupervised, they happen freely,” she said

that is what has been happening. Frats aren't suppose to use dues for tailgates so they collect cash for kegs and tents

A woman that has a hyphenated last name probably has a buzz killer personality and takes drinking massive quantities of alcohol to have relations with her. I bet she is a fatty.

Student: With the budget crisis, is this really the most important thing the #LSU administration needs to focus on?

Consequences for not following policies: 1st violation handled by Dean of Students, 2nd violation could bring loss of tailgating privileges

Organizers: "The goal of these forums are to discuss which of these three options is viable." A few students respond in unison: "None."

Option summaries: 1. Student orgs hire 3rd party vendor for alcohol 2. Vendor provides communal bar for all orgs 3. 21 and up BYOB

Ha. Good luck telling Hillar Moore (EBR DA) that he has to tone down his tailgate. Requiring a permit to tailgate is ridiculous as well. If you traditionally have a spot, then get your arse out there Thursday and claim it. Or is it all about having someone to blame if something happens?

Eta: Nm, read the article more carefully. It looks like it'll only apply to student organizations. Wonder if it will do anything to unofficial student organization tailgates, i.e. rugby tailgate.

hahaha glad I'm not a student anymore. They have taken a break from crippling the value of the LSU degree to destroying the unique fun of LSU as well.

"Let's spend more money to institute and enforce some outlandish over the top tailgating rules to screw over students who decided to join an organization; but first did you mail out those alumni donation pleas because we are out of money."

So ashamed of my college.

Next time I get a plea letter for alumni donations because of funding cuts, I'm going to print out this article and send it back with a note, "Is this what you'll spend my money on? No thanks"

Let the kids have their fun. We need LSU people running this athletic dept. and this university. They would remember when they were students and not be a bunch of party poopers. If they want to improve the game day experience they should be concerned with improving the product on the field.

LSU has much larger issues to be spending time/resources on than college students tailgating before games. This administration is so far removed from its core base (students/alums) and inept that it's beyond alarming.

Amen. I'll make sure to let them know my donation will now go to my fraternity's social budget.

Basically telling students to piss off the parade grounds. This has nothing to do with drinking. They will likely move to the grove behind the pentagon

Listen bros, it has been 18 years since I was a student at LSU but a lot of this is brought on by the people who tailgate at the parade grounds. If they continue to not treat their own university with respect then they will be shown little in return. As a proud alumni of what I think it a great university, it sicken me to see what the parade grounds look like after a football game. Have some pride in your own shi*, stop being a bunch of whinny beotches and fix the problem. It isn't that damn hard. If you can't figure it out, good luck in your next 20 years.
