LSU proposing tailgating changes for students to curb binge-drinking

Advocate Article
if you’re an LSU student, some sweeping regulations — intended to crack down on binge-drinking — could be coming down next fall to your pre-game party.
LSU’s Dean of Students Maria Fuentes-Martin is hosting town hall meetings Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Union to get input from students about the potential changes.
Fuentes-Martin said the changes would involve some “ground rules.” Among these rules would be requiring student organizations, like sororities, fraternities, clubs and colleges, to register their tailgates with the Office of Campus Life.
Student organizations would have to request and be allotted a space to tailgate on the Parade Grounds, whereas now tailgaters reserve space on the Parade Grounds by showing up first.
Fuentes-Martin said there would be no “common-source containers of alcohol,” like “tiger punch, jungle juice,” or other unlabeled drinks where people aren’t informed about the contents.
There would also be no glass containers allowed anywhere on campus, and no drinking games that encourage rapid consumption of alcohol.

Sounds like it will work and is obviously the best use of resources by a university with no money.

Nothing can possibly go wrong here.

Now this is something the students will care about. They don't care about showing up to games and acting right but you better not take away their drinking games!!!!!

Sit back and watch the innovation unfold, Ms Fuentes-Martin.

So that's just for students? or campus wide? Sounds like the rent-a-cops will have their hands full next fall because they wont listen.

binge-drinking
I've always thought this term was funny. According to the CDC "bing drinking" is "when men consume 5 or more drinks, and when women consume 4 or more drinks, in about 2 hours"
If you don't think a 21-year-old is going to drink 5 or more beers in a two hour span while tailgating (even without drinking games) you're out of your friggin mind.

Dumb, pointless policy that is just CYA so the University can say after an accident that they did something like this and not get sued.

Yes, and jungle juice type stuff.
The school did this bullshite with the greeks while I was there and we always found ways around the rules. I don't see anything coming from this.
