That's what you really need to look at and then ask yourself, Why?

You are a broken record with road ERAs, look at your recent post history.

Well it was obvious who was struggling of late and who wasn't. The Bain/Godfrey inning was questionable, this isn't counting the Lehigh outing for Bain either.

What happened to Godfrey? I watched the game he pitched at Minute Maid and he was a solid third starter for us. What went wrong for him?

this surprises me because his 2 previous starts (before this last one) were really good if I remember correctly

Yeah. But let's insert Godfrey during the most critical point in the game. Awesome decision mr. COTY.

That because they were in Alex Box where there's a comfort level for sure. These are #'s away from Alex Box.

There appears to be a collective lack of confidence among the pitching staff, aside from Lange, and I don't know if this is a Dunn problem or a PM problem. Just seems to be a lack of cohesiveness or leadership or something that just isn't there, and its gone on all season and never seemed to get resolved. Going into Omaha with only 2 starters is inexcusable.

There were a lot of questionable pitching decisions in that game, but this was one that I think I disagreed with the most. Godfrey has the potential to give you a handful of decent innings, but it's never seemed like a good idea to start him out with runners on in tight situations. He's always seemed better when he starts an inning. Mostly because he tends to give up hits, but eventually works himself out of jams. If he's already in a jam to begin with....

The "not my fault" generation at work. Pitchers suck so it must be the coach's fault, because surely it's not the players' fault. Last I checked coaches cannot go on the mound and direct a pitch over the plate and avoid freaking walks out of the bullpen.

No, the coach cannot throw strikes for the pitcher. But he can leave a pitcher in that is throwing strikes instead of pulling him and hoping the new guy can throw strikes. I thought Mainieri's pitching moves were bad, but I was absolutely floored after the game while reading his logic on why he made those moves.

Reminds me of the meeting on the mound to change a pitcher (maybe it was Bertman??):

Pitcher: "Sorry coach."
Coach: "It's not your fault. I'm the one that thought you could pitch."

Bain hadn't been on in a good while. He should have had a much shorter leash. But to bring in Godfrey when he got in trouble was horrible. Everyone watching knew he was about to serve up two runs. And then bringing in stallings basically conceded the game. Unbelievable

That's a picture of a team with no pitching.

That team will have to rely heavily on the bats.

What? The bats aren't that good, either?

That team will be lucky to win anything at all.

The LSU baseball team lived up to its potential this year. There was never the talent required to win it all.
