McMahon is a class guy but he’s an atrocious coach. It’s pretty evident, already, that his tenure will be a failure.

Out:

Phillips
Justice Williams
C. Williams
Coleman
KJ Williams (entered draft)

In

Wright
Cook
Two HS signees

And the scoreboard is as follows:
Chest > Coleman
M. Williams = C. Williams
Wright > Justice Williams
Cook > Justice Hill
Miller ???
Phillips ???
??? < KJ

If we wind up with better players this year than last, and some existing players improve, then the team should be improving. KJ is gone, but if the remaining players improve they should be able to make up the difference.

And you are going to base that on one season with a limited team. A team that he should be able to improve upon this year. You smart.

Are you one of the guys who think that if we ran a full court press all game we would have won more SEC games? Or are you one of the guys who think this team was a motivational speaker away from storming the SEC?

I love basketball. I like having a personal connection to athletics teams. I joined the Tip Off club to support the team, to socialize with other Tiger Fans, and to mingle with some of the coaches and players.
I started this thread when Adam Miller declared for portal. I was pissed off, but others were cheering it. That pissed me off to no end.

I love to discuss LSU Basketball, I know it devolves into an old school, new school, Wade/Mc, etc. And I don't want that.

So I started this topic to discuss outside of that. Initially for me - expectations. Setting the bar at 2 SEC wins, it's difficult to not improve.

I will always have respect for Adam Miller for coming out to play every game with effort even when his shot wasn't falling. He is clearly a talented player which you could see towards the end of the year when he started driving and passing more. I have no doubt he will have a better year next year and didn't want to see him leave.

Unfortunately you have idiot fans on the Rant who love to rip into players and coaches at the first sign of trouble. They are front running non-fans who think that great teams just appear out of thin air.

I think the team will improve in SEC play. It will be tough, but hopefully they round out the roster through the portal and maybe get a late frosh who gets out of their paperwork to another school.

Right now I am most curious how the NCAA will handle all the 2nd time transfers. I think there are just too many in the portal and they are just going to have to say they will Crack down next year.

I like your take. If we can finish with Amaree Abram to replace Miller and Will Baker to replace KJ, we’ll be a much better team next year. I still hope Miller and Phillips reconsider, because they can help the team as role players.

Would love to see Miller return with a true point guard. As bad as the year was, he gave it his all … sometimes trying to do too much himself due to the limited options. I think with a penetrating point guard that could set him up to catch and shoot, he would look like a totally different player.

First, I generally disagree with you. But I said before - and you know it - I appreciate you more than the drive-by idiots.

LSU MBB fans could be the worst across all sports.

It was a few weeks ago and some poster said, "Give Mike a chance". He didn't include Streetball, so there's that.

I’m going off of a roster that was better than 2 wins and picked to finish middle of the SEC. Combine that with a shite recruiting class, loss of any remaining fan base and a coach that can’t motivate his way out of a wet paper bag.

Any more questions?

womens basketball is different ? why? mulkey is pretty successful, how does she do it?

thats the exact question i just asked and you said comparing it to other sports is pointless.

On WBB, our NIL payouts are higher than most schools, so even if we are paying players equal, it’s higher than most could pay individual top players. We don’t have that luxury on the men’s

so mulkey may do it the same as mcmahon then? but your thepory is that her style is national title level for women but catastrophic for men? why?

Last year’s team was expected to have decent PG play from Justice Hill, but he was a disaster. The PG is the most important player. Without good PG play that is also a scoring threat and good defender, most teams don’t do well. With Cook alone, we should be better. If we get a replacement for KJ and somebody to rebound, we should be much better.

I genuinely think that if we land Will Baker and Amaree Abram without anyone else transferring, our team is just as good if not better on paper.

Cook and Abram are better than Hill and J Williams.
Abram is younger than Miller and hopefully has more room to grow. Baker is a solid center and although he isn't as good as KJ, he provides a similar role with his offensive play and shooting.

Losing Phillips is going to suck though. We need a big man that can play defense. Fountain isn't a C no matter how much CMM wanted him to be.

There are no excuses this year. This roster isn't that bad. We are not a 2 SEC win team.

There is no way it can be any worse. Bummer to see Phillips and Miller leave, but they are both replaceable.

I agree, but everyone at this point last year said the same thing about the incoming team and then the board was baffled how anyone expected we should be performing above a 3rd grade level.

So we shall see, I thought CMM and staff have done a good job at putting a roster together last year and it looks like he will have some decent pieces this year so hopefully we see some good improvement. We are probably looking at replacing 4-5(maybe even more) players every year, so this year to year turn around has to be something they can win with or they never will be able too.

He ain’t sitting out a year to come back to LSU to play for the equivalent of a used Kleenex for coach.
