What is his philosophy?

You say below that money is a problem. Is he not fundraising enough, or does he not believe in nil?

Have heard he takes an everyone is equal approach to NIL money. As opposed to having it more on a scale to pay better players more. I’ve been told the amount available should make us competitive, it’s how that is being used.

So you are trying to tell us that McMahon controls the distribution of funds from the Bayou Traditions Collective or perhaps all of NIL? And this is done differently from Kelly and Mulkey?

8th! Not last. Not 10th. Not 9th but 8th in the SEC

We should just hang the Final Four Banner now. I mean 8th in the SEC.

Why would people dump money into supporting MBB when Scott doesn’t support as evidence by his need to remove wade so he can make his own hire and the lack of investment in the program.
I'll speak for myself. I support the MBB team because LSU is my Alma Mater, twice over. I grew up in Baton Rouge. LSU has always been my university and always a part of my family. I have fond memories of my entire family, multi-generations, cheering on the Tigers in various sports.

I love basketball. I like having a personal connection to athletics teams. I joined the Tip Off club to support the team, to socialize with other Tiger Fans, and to mingle with some of the coaches and players. It's a luxury I'm blessed to afford.

So, I don't do it contingent on if they're already successful. I do it for other reasons. I'm a real Tiger fan by any measure. By some measures, others aren't.

How about we support MAC. He’s an awesome dude and if y’all would give him some time he will win. The idiot known as Wade is directly responsible for the predicament we’re in.

I think (hope) we will end up with a marginally better team than last year. Say 4 or 5 SEC wins and a winning non-conference. It all depends on if CMM can build team chemistry and keep it high the whole year. We talk endlessly about stats and talent and how we rank against other programs but the truth is that basketball games are often won by energy, hustle, the willingness to play tough defense, share the ball on offense, make free throws, etc. Any player, no matter how many stars next to their name, should be able to make free throws if they put in the time and practice. Missed layups, short shots under the goal, turnovers are all a matter of focus and playing smart. This is where the coach comes in. He has to coach up his players to execute these things efficiently. So there is always hope and I am an optimist even when there is no proof for it.

If CMM isn’t close to a .500 conference record, Woodward needs to take a serious look at him coming back.

I think anything less than 6 conference wins should get him canned. And that’s being extremely generous. The cupboard is bare. There is 0 reason to be excited about this team.

I'm excited about the number of fans who continuously support losers and support firing winners.
Sounds like the State my birth.

They're good pickups. I don't think you can look at either one as guys who turn your program around like Tremont Waters or Naz Reid.

Baker has been to 2 different programs already and I like the portal mentality on bigs because they usually take much longer to develop. If we get Baker with 2 years of eligibility left, it’s a huge win. He should be up to speed and ready to contribute. That being said, he only played around 23minutes per game. 5 rebounds a night isn’t horrible at all considering his playing time. He easily can get you 8 boards a game. As far as being a “rim protector” he is most definitely not that, but I think if we can find a good one that can can you a bucket here or there to compliment, it works. What he will bring offensively is huge. 13 points per game only playing 23minutes a night the kid can make it happen offensively.

As for Abram, I watched him a ton at Port Arthur Memorial, and he is a certified bucket. Yes he came off the bench, but he still was the teams 4th leading scorer as a True Freshman. I think he will be someone to build on for the future because he has a lot of potential. He should be the prize of the portal for us, he will compliment Cook very well and allow Hayes to come off the bench with less pressure.

Most of what we will get are not program changers but it will allow us to compete in the SEC and in turn give us better opportunities at elite high school prospects.

Hang in there Gus. I think anyone trying to be positive is just doing so to be supportive.

Another year next year like this one and nobody will he needs more time.

Some folks just don’t subscribe to bitching nonstop. I’m not renewing my season tickets. That means more to those in charge than me crying like a baby on a message board day after day about the guy they fired.

It’s because we have two signees, and most schools don’t at this point. Wade had McNeese at 7 when he signed two players out of the portal in March. It really doesn’t mean much until about May

if it doesnt mean much and most schools have fewer, then in what sense is your point here true:

quote:

we’re getting crushed in the portal

it doesnt mean much, or we are getting crushed? which is it?

quote:

South Carolina has the # 2 portal class as of today with 2 3*’s

am i meant to think that doesnt mean anything or that they are getting crushed?

have you also heard that this is different than mulkey and johnson and kelly? your claim was that he was doing something that successful coaches do not. those coaches are successful. is he the outlier on campus in terms of how he manages it?

He’s the only men’s basketball coach on campus. Not really sure how comparing him to other sports matters. FWIW I don’t think all football players get the same cut. As for baseball, do you think Skenes gets the same as others? On WBB, our NIL payouts are higher than most schools, so even if we are paying players equal, it’s higher than most could pay individual top players. We don’t have that luxury on the men’s side.

It really is entertaining to see people defend MM’s recruiting to date and then trash what Wade did here.

We are behind the curve in basketball and don’t seem to be making up ground. We’ve gotten a couple of nice pieces in the portal, but MM’s biggest pick up is a guy he brought with him last year from Murray. Other than that, he hasn’t brought in any player that can compete at the top of the league. If that doesn’t change, he shouldn’t be here long.

Just say you don't know and stop making stuff up. Bottom line: there is nothing said anywhere that ANY of the coaches are directing allocations from the fund, much less McMahon.

What Wade "did here" is leave the program with an NOA and in absolute shambles. But his fan boys act like he was on the verge of a national championship.

Yes, he hasn't brought in any superstars. And I am sure that it has nothing to do with the NOA or thar the program was gutted 12 months ago. According to you it has everything to do with McMahon directing an NIL fund that he had zero control over in how they direct NIL money. And he is doing this in a very bad way that only you and some nameless buddies of yours even know about.

Haha. Bet you believe the Easter bunny made the rounds this morning as well. If you don’t think coaches have a hand in directing NIL money then this conversation is worthless. And if MM doesn’t have a say in that, he’s destined for a Trent Johnson type run, except without the SEC title using Brady’s roster.

Saying that ruins your whole premise for saying that it is how McMahon is directing NIL that is killing recruiting.

Hey, maybe NIL was evenly distributed last year (by whomever controls it) because outside of KJ, everyone on that team was about equal. But either way, you don't know.
