Staying positive and burying your head in the sand while the ship sinks are two different things. We are not headed in the right direction on the court or in recruiting. It isn’t going to magically get better.

I can assure you that successful coaches in this era are not splitting up NIL money equally. Whether people like it or not, pay for play is here and legal and coaches will adjust or look for new jobs. If you want the top talent, you’ll pay their market value.

Not sure why this concept is so difficult. Hell ON3 puts the NIL value of players on their website now.

we are wondering about specific policy and you are implying its difficult for us, to be insulting. then you are intentionally vague to seem like you know more than you let on whie avoiding specific questions with more insults.

Yea I don’t understand where the disconnect is for these folks. LSU basically gives everyone a base and the platform to earn more based on their ability and what companies value them out

Now they’d have a point if they want to bitch about boosters and generating additional opportunities for guys. Which I’d agree with the premise that McMahon not having much of a personality does hurt. Unfortunately this program has been third tier for so long the head coach also has to be a marketing major and have personality to generate buzz unless he puts a monster product on the court

Can you tell me what last year’s class was ranked and how that translated?

its hard to draw conclusions because last year's class was added to a roster of zero people. whereas most classes are added to a team with people on it.

like if you look at the points returning it was like 5 ppg. wilkinson and justice williams.

so like 90% of their scoring was gone, which must be atypical.

He could make a lot of improvement the next 2 years and we still finish with losing seasons. It's just that bad right now.

Agree… SEC conference adding Chris Beard to the mix doesn’t help MM in recruiting.. add the success of other SEC teams like Tennessee, Bama, aTm could also add to MM’s recruiting woes unless there a few mil hanging in the NIL fund..I don’t see much MM can sell to a recruit to convince whoever to come to LSU other than playing time and NIL money..

And that's the ceiling. Which honestly is depressing. LSU's athletic program in every other sport is so far ahead of men's hoops it's unbelievable, and frankly I'm tired of waiting on these people to get it right.

I know this is a message board, but even if you're right (and I am a CWW fan), this line of thinking doesn't help the program. If you want to help, join the Tip-off Club even if you know they're going to suck.

This program has been 3rd tier because the resources and support have t been allocated towards it. Spend the money on the facilities needed to compete, spend it on the players and then go big and get a coach

Why would people dump money into supporting MBB when Scott doesn’t support as evidence by his need to remove wade so he can make his own hire and the lack of investment in the program.

At this point throwing money at MM is like throwing money to the EBR school system it’s just burning money to burn money.

I want nothing more than for LSU to be great at basketball but the AD doesn’t support men’s basketball and the coach doesn’t inspire any confidence. If we had a coach like Beard I’d be all in on giving again and paying to go to road trips like auburn, Georgia and Tennessee.

LSU has to rely on collective fan base to really donate and give the problem is when the face is Mr boring MM you aren’t going to get peoples hard earned dollars. MM doesn’t inspire anyone and his system is boring as frick. Wade realized if you aren’t entertaining at LSU then it’s going to be a problem. You can’t win like UVA unless you put a title up for people to care here. I and I’m sure others would. rather donate to BK, JJ or even Kim because they convert the money given into results.

How did they rank us last season?

Just checking their credibility.

So far I see them trading a bunch of mediocre role players for other mediocre role players. I hope I'm wrong.

At least the two players he brought in are better than the 2 that left.

I still think he is going to get some nice players out the portal.

Baker and Abram would be guys we could expect to start. That said, Baker is a 7-footer who's yet to show much in the way of defense or rebounding (though yeah, he can shoot), and Abram was only a middling scorer on a pretty bad Ole Miss team this year (I wouldn't be surprised if he broke out as a sophomore, though).

They're good pickups. I don't think you can look at either one as guys who turn your program around like Tremont Waters or Naz Reid.

Right, and that's the problem. He needed/needs to get some of the top guys out the portal. If he could even grab one top guy, along with cook and wright, then you can supplement with other guys.

I still think they should throw everything at these player of the yr types from smaller conferences.

Also, MM can now hand out cash within the rules. If you have any insight into MM’s NIL philosophy, you’d know why we’re getting crushed in the portal and are pretty average in HS recruiting. That is the direct impact of how MM handles NIL, not looming sanctions. Arizona had a coach convicted and an NOA pending, and it didn’t keep them from thriving.

What is his philosophy?

You say below that money is a problem. Is he not fundraising enough, or does he not believe in nil?

Cook is nice but this team is still going to be terrible next year. Really depressing considering where our other programs are at currently.

It’s because we have two signees, and most schools don’t at this point. Wade had McNeese at 7 when he signed two players out of the portal in March. It really doesn’t mean much until about May when the majority of the quality players in the portal have committed.

Keep grasping at straws. We’ll be in the bottom half of the league in overall recruiting and there is no sign it’s getting better.

For example, South Carolina has the # 2 portal class as of today with 2 3*’s.
