I don’t care if he is from Gainesville or worked on the grounds crew. He does not have a degree from there. He is not one of their alumni. No, giving him a fake degree does not count like Florida did. It’s really comical.

No pictures of Petty in UF clothing but many pictures of Stephen Stills in LSU jersey (white) and also LSP shirt.

I love how 65-70 band members drowned out 88,000 Florida fans and their stadium sound system…and some think the GBFTL is on the decline LOL

Florida marketing guy was on the headset and told LSU they can play. End of dumb story.

They also carried around a fake cat skeleton after Mike 6 died so frick anything associated with that god awful university.

Yeah I agree. I just don’t understand why LSU fans would be so upset about losing this game yearly. I’d much rather play Texas or Oklahoma yearly over the d bag gators.

It was classless. Of course, Florida hasn't exactly been a classy program or fan base.

Personally, I would have preferred the LSU band taking the high road, even against a low road program.

I don’t know any fans that are in favor of keeping this game annually.

As the visiting band, you normally don’t have a guy on the headset. Historically if you’re a pep band, you do as you see fit.

isn't a long standing tradition

The Florida band has been playing after the end of the 3rd quarter as long as I remember, going back to 1963 at least. Before they started playing Tom Petty songs, they played their alternate team fight song. The Florida fans would link arms and sway back and forth to the slow waltz-tempo music, not unlike the perverse Aggie pregame ritual.

So have we and they’re not upset about their alternate fight song. They’re upset about the Tom Petty “tradition” they’re trying to make happen.

Are you talking about "We are the boys from old Florida"? That's not what they're upset about.
