LSU locks the "Brady Spread Offense" in the closet for most of the 1st half vs Miss St

The unstoppable 4 & 5 wide LSU offense was almost non-existent in the 1st half of the Miss St game. The dominant set was something out of the 1970's... everybody lined up in-tight. No famous Spread AT ALL in 13 of those 1st half sets.
The first 3 drives (& Red Zone TD fizzles) were mostly non-Spread sets. And the non-Spread parade continued until there was 1:44 left in the first half. Then, the 4 & 5 wide Spread/RPO came to life and scored on a 5-play drive that took all of 54 seconds.
Yeah, that TD, Burrow to McMath, was from a non-spread set. But that was the busted coverage to end all busted coverages (however, the Moo DB DID point at McMath as he flew by... so, he had that going for him)
Breakdown of LSUs 1st half formations from kickoff to 1:44 left in the half:
Completely non-Spread sets - 13 plays
Non-Spread with 1 receiver split 5 yards or less - 3 plays
Non-Spread with 2 receivers split 5 yards or less - 1 play
Non-Spread with 3 receivers split 5 yards or less - 2 plays
There were 2 non-Spread sets in the second half... one resulted in a sack, and the other was a 1-yard-loss run by Emery.
If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it!!!
[edit - 2 plays, not 3 from 3-wide - and 3 plays, not 2 from 1-wide]

LSU is scoring at will against anyone and everyone. The coaching staff has developed a working game plan (on offense, at least) for every team we've played so far. And defense is getting there too now that they're becoming more comfortable in zone. This team is getting nasty.

I think it did exactly what they were trying to do. Possessed the ball, drove the field, and kept the defense rested. It worked and our defense came out strong in the second half.

I dont think we needed it.
Brady/Ensminger wanted to see what other formations we could work on if Au and Bama figure the spread out.

We have been running tight formations all season long. It helps create space.
Terrible, uniformed thread.

They also targeted other receivers a lot. There is a reason for this. They want to give Alabama more film and things to worry about. This wasn’t about beating miss state but about beating Bama. The more they have to prepare for the less they are prepared all together. This was a big picture game against a team they knew LSU would walk over.

We have to keep experimenting and putting different stuff on film to opponents guessing.

Pretty sure it was on purpose

First three three drives into the Red Zone with no TDs was not on purpose.

Hey dumbass.. Those are called bunch sets. They are very difficult to defend with man coverage which MSU runs more than anyone in the country. And btw we've been running bunch sets all season.

we've got to relax because he staff knows what they are doing.
apparently moo state saw the film and had an excellent plan aainst the bunch. against florida their dline just rushed 4 against the bunch. moo state crowded the line and brought pressure, but you couldn't see where it would be coming from because they had so many options.
it's good to practice these things. I didn't like it either and made the some observation as you, but I know that the staff is working.
you know who really doesn't like the bunch? Throwin' Joe Burrow. watch his body language.

Dude, the tight bunch sets have been a staple of this offense. What do you mean if it's not broke don't fix it? That's what's been working

86 yards rushing, and 3 stalled drives for FGs.

Bingo. OP wants all his eggs in one basket. Why be one-dimensional?
The team mastered the spread and RPO in less than half a season. Why not try other sets? Make teams have to prepare for more than they can handle. Now Saban has to get his mediocre defense prepared for the spread and LSU's traditional offense. I like it.

I defended Coach E all last week. But this shite STUNK!
Burrow said, "If we play like this against Auburn, we'll lose."
I agree.
