No disrespect but bunch formations absolutely do not spread teams out.

The LSU offense is one of the best college offenses I've ever seen... except for first 28 minutes of the Miss St game.

I think O has it back on track as per his comments at today's presser.

Going forward there is absolutely no need to even let Ensminger anywhere near a headset or playbook. Tell him to go sit in his office and you will call him when you need him!

While the term has been used by media personalities in this form, the actual term spread came about because of the line splits of offensive linemen are wider than the splits in traditional I & pro set formations.

Finally someone actually knows what a spread is

considering ensminger has never coached an offense to a single point against alabama, i'd probably look to joe brady for calling a lot more plays

In one game (can't remember which one) it was all we ran. I wondered where the wide sets went, although I am knowledgeable enough to know that the bunch formation is hell to cover man to man. Lots of opportunities for rub routes as well as using the WRs in the blocking scheme.

FIFY

That definition goes back more than 50 years. It now commonly mean WRs spread wide, a WR/RB/TE in the slot. and a QB in shotgun.

But thanks for the history reminder.

And yet we still scored the most points in the 2nd quarter (19).

Right. 2 field goals against a pass defense ranked just below Rutgers, Temple, and Rice.

One TD was a gift from the sound-asleep MSU DBs

The other was the full-blown 4 & 5 wide LSU offense going 55 yards for the TD in 54 seconds.

Wholesome, informative post. Appreciated.

What I should have said was — it was consistent with our offensive philosophy.
