LSU football - the official "I admit I was wrong" thread

This thread is to admit when you were wrong about your viewpoint or opinion of any aspect of LSU football.
Mine:
I was wrong about the JR vs Flynn thing. I now think Matt Flynn would have been the better QB to invest in.
I also thought Miles would never beat Florida and Bama in the same season after the 2009 season. I was clearly wrong about that. He did it 2 yrs in a row.

I was wrong about Miles. I bailed on him after the Ole Miss game in 2009 and thought he was a disaster. He has proved me wrong - 24-3 and an SEC title in 2 years and preseason #1 next year. I never thought we'd see this success under him.

I was done with Miles after the devastating (and at the time Championship destroying) loss to Arky in 2007, and again in 2009 where I said: "We will never win the West with Les Miles as our coach."
I only feel sort of wrong about the JR/Flynn debate. There's a reason JR was the number one pick: he was an outstanding college QB. I just thought the talent gap between them then was larger than it evidently is.
TBD on Trent Johnson.
I thought before the season Brad Wing would be very erratic and called him a potential "weak spot." But anyone who watched Wing kick right footed in pregames last year would understand my concern. Never seen that many shanks in my life.

I hear what you are saying but given what Flynn accomplished in the limited time that he played at LSU and where he is in his pro career, I think he would have developed better.

Flynn was partying at Reggies while JR was completing 68% of his passes, being named SEC player of the year by columbus TD club his sophomore year. All SEC QB Jr Year(AP & SEC coaches), winning the Manning Award, Davey O'brien semifinalist, and being mentioned in the Heisman race.
Seriously Flynn obviously worked much harder post college, but to act like Flynn should have played over JR is absolute nonsense. Dont be that guy.
quote:I mean he lead LSU to the same record as Russel did but Russell lost to 2 top 10 teams(1 who won the NC) on the road and Flynn played like garbage in 2 losses to teams who ended up unranked.

I thought there'd be a massive drop-off in special teams play after what we lost last year, punting excepted. I'm very happy to say that I was wrong.

Rumor is Flynn will be starting QB for Miami next year.

Always liked Miles but lost faith in him following the coDC debacle, and retaining Crowton so long as well as the Ole Miss game which was a total embarrassment as a tiger fan.
I admitted last year I was wrong, though I still have a few reservations. Miles is a very good coach overall, with a few weaknesses. I have faith he can lead a team to the SEC title again.

I was wrong to think that Gary Crowton was the reason our offense hasn't been ranked in the top 25 nationally in a while. Boy, I was wrong.

I admit I was wrong to think that Miles would have a somewhat descent game plan and play both QBs in the NC game. I WAS DEAD WRONG.

I listed 7 reasons why I thought we'd do better in the National Championship than Alabama. I was wrong. The game was in New Orleans, it was the fourth year, we had a dominant defense like the other two, we had excellent special teams like the other two, only one thing was missing. A mediocre to decent pocket passing QB. I guess we'll find out this year if that's the key.

I have been wrong about Les Miles several times.
At first I loved him, then wanted him gone, then loved him again, then went one season with a WTF expression on my face, then decided he was the best coach of all time, then he let me down in the NC game.
At the moment any thought I have about Miles has to be put in the 'probably wrong' category.
I was completely confident going into the NC game that we would win and was comfortable with JJ being the starting qb and playing lights out.
That confidence was wrong.
I was at the Monday night Tennessee game in 05 with my daughter from Houston. We decided to leave at halftime because we were dominating the game and she had to drive back to Houston that night.
That was really really really wrong.

Actually, I would put that in the right decision category.
I was wrong in thinking that Miles would expand the playbook in the BCSCG, particularly surrounding the option game (i.e. reverse pitch, option pass, etc) ... dead wrong.

I was wrong to think Miles really was running a 2 qb system with Lee and Jefferson. For some reason we'll never know, Miles played Jefferson over Lee, no mater what the situation or scenario was, 5 million dollar raise on the table, and another national championship for the program.
I had a 30 minute argument the morning of the game with a buddy of mine. He was going off on Miles saying how he wronged Lee, etc. I told him, "if Jefferson throws an int or looks like shite in the game, Miles is gonna put Lee in you watch..."

I was wrong thinking many of "LSU fans" on the rant could ever think rationally, and that they could see what I saw in that we have a great program and a great coach, and sometimes things just don't go your way, but I was wrong, there are still many who don't think this way and are miserable in their own skin.

i was wrong for hating les miles for his decision to not play lee, but hes still an arrogant a-hole for it

I was wrong to predict LSU would win the National Title this past season.... at least they got into it
