Call it what you will, but running Copeland on 3rd and 3 and then punting with less than 4 minutes to go (and down by 2 scores) was effectively "quitting".

actually, we were down 21-0 at this point, but yes I agree, it was basically quitting.

I'm not a college football coach and I bet you aren't either. There have been lots of play calls by lots of coaches that I didn't understand. I do know that most of the time it isn't whimsy; that there is a reason for the call. Football is very complex at this level and specific plays are called because the staff has decided that the call will exploit a certain pervieved weakness in the other team.
Why the particular call you mentioned. I haven't a clue, but I bet that the staff saw something.I'm not trying to say that the LSU staff put together a great game plan. Obviously they didn't but to suggest that they "quit" is silly in the least.

Gotcha ... for some reason I thought we were still down 15-0 and then we punted and Richardson broke the long run. Either way, a change was overdue and it didn't come.

When you are losing by multiple possessions and you make no attempt to run a hurry up or throw the ball down field, sounds like quitting to me.

If you are really going to suggest that we aren't smart enough to understand basic play calling since we aren't on the payrolls, just keep looking the other way. Under that philosophy no one could ever criticize any coach because we aren't coaches. That is ridiculous. Do you not criticize politicians because you aren't there to "understand" how "complex" what they do is?

DBG

Les is 3-3 with Saban, 2 in a row prior to BCSCG game, but after 1 game Nick is the "best coach by a substantial margin"

On 11/05 Nick didn't look so good,in fact looked like a dumbass according to the bama message boards,

"unimaginative, stubborn, etc" Do you see a trend here?

But then I am an idiot for even reading the 'rant..

But the narrative of JJ fans is that their boy was THE reason why LSU won. Nothing else mattered, not the D, not the special teams, not Ford, not the O-line and certainly not the play by Reid.

I've said a few times Reid's play was the difference in the game and the play of the year for LSU. Incredible play!

i admit i was wrong by telling everyone i knew that there was no way we could lose to alabama. we were better defensively and we will never know about offense because our coach was not smart enough to bring in someone else when the QB position sucked.

I was wrong in thinking Les was going to do the right thing for his team down the stretch which would have been to continue and utilize the passing talents of Lee at opportune times. It mystifies me that he did not.

I admit that I was wrong when I used to think that LSU has the best fan base in college football.

We do have great fans, but don't get all butthurt with facts of Miles quitting and JJ shitting the bed. It's alright to call like it is.

You can choose to love every LSU fan if you want. I can choose to dislike as many as I want. Where did you see anything about Miles or JJ in my post?

You didn't, but the negativity you hate does bother you.

And we know most of that stems from the play of JJ and criticism of Miles. Two biggest topics of discussion lately.

Yeah I don't know why LSU held on to him what with those 7 consecutive losing seasons.

Thanks once again for demonstrating the intelligence level of the Miles haters.

Seriously, are you allowed outside of the special school alone?

I was wrong about JJ...as were a lot of people before the 2009 season...

Will JJ be one of LSU's great QBs?

quote:

I think he can. I think he has the instincts. He isn't as talented as Jamarcus, but I think he can be pretty special-perhaps top 5.
