Don't laugh, but I have been going to basketball games since 2000..... that Both times Arizona came to town was awesome, The one with Jabari was awesome, but they only had about 9,500 people there, but this is where you might laugh. The women's game against Tennesee where it was standing room only, idk which year but there was 14,000 there and that place was absolutely rocking. It was probably the loudest one I have been to.
Number 1, most schools don't value baseball over basketball but we do, so it's hard to have that strong of interest in three sports. Number 2, we sucked in football whild Dale Brown was here so the interesr was in basketball, now we are in the golden era of lsu football and we expect top talent to come and be overshadowed by football and baseball. Number 3, the basketball talent is not good right now in Louisiana. Finally if you watch this team there are 3 freshman getting a lot of minutes. 2 sophomores, a junior in jh which explains some offensive lapses and missed assignments and folding under pressure. We also signed a good guard from John Curtis and potentially Gathers. Obviously something is building. We are close. I will judge Trent next year. Right now all I see is a strong foundation.
I was wrong to think that Gary Crowton was the reason our offense hasn't been ranked in the top 25 nationally in a while. Boy, I was wrong.
In response to the poster who said baseball doesnt generate money, that is not true. 35 or so home dates with paid attendences around 7,000 and suites means revenue. Basketball is the third sport at this school. You can talk about the Dale Brown days but football was weaker at the time and basketball had it's run. With baseball's sucess along with becoming a top program, basketball is lost. Tj is building a program the right way and stressing academics and these guys battle. We are a dominant perimeter player away from being a tournament team. As far as the crowds, they havent been bad considering the students were out for christmas. Tonight, the students showed out. Unfortunately, Baton Rouge is a working town and it's hard for people to get to games by 6. The weather was awful also. The marquette game was hostille and we had a bigger crowd for virgina. Kentucky will be a big crowd also. Geaux Tigers and Geaux TJ
What about Colston? I hope we save some money for the defensive side of the ball. I would like to see us move Will Smith. He has had a good run, I just think it's time to go.
He is one of the best open field tacklers in the game... he had a great year. I Safeties generally aren't great cover guys, I don't think he was put in very god positions yesterday.
we were never in prevent!!!!!!!! we were in man to man!!! If your going to post, know what your talking about! :banghead:

Obviously all the negativity is dying down, and you continue to post the same garbage bandwagon stuff over and over. Go enjoy the Saints game and have a beer!
thanks for the info, hopefully we can enjoy the saints' win and turn the basketball game on for another

well, he definitely needs to develop that part of his game, because he is too big not to be able to take a guy of the dribble and rise up for a jumper. We need another scorer. Do you know anything about recruiting for next year?

maybe so, but I think he can score of the dribble or at least create shots. I don't think he is only a catch and shoot guy

You judge a team off of one game?

The team starts 2 freshman 2 sophomore and a junior before Johnny O got hurt. He has been replaced by Storm Warren who has played well.

Hamilton is our best inside threat. He is a 7'0 JR. Very good ball skills.

Hickey the PG is a freshman. He has been inconsistent shooting the ball, but looks like he knows how to run the offense. Has a bright future, but will never be a dominant scorer because of size.

Stringer who I believe is a sophomore, please correct me if I am wrong, was sick most of the season due to an illness. He is a good scorer but again undersized but has great potential.

Ralston Turner is an all around player who can shoot it well and has ball skills. He is a big body that can really play.

Overall this is a really good defensive team and average offense. They didn't give up 60 points or more for a stretch of 7 or 8 games. They beat Marquette, Rutgers on the road, Georgia Tech, Houston on the road, and competed well against a very good Virginia team that almost beat Duke last night.

Ala has won a stretch of about 26 out of 27 home games, not many teams go there and win. This team is will win anywhere from 7 to 10 conf games and have an outside shot at the tournament but most likely an NIT. This team has a good nucleus and I feel a very good coach. I think they are on the up and up...
It doesn't matter who the position coaches are or who the offensive coordinator is. This is Les Miles offense. He runs the ship. If you are disappointed by the offense look at Les. Urban Meyer is an offensive minded coach and had great offenses, Nick Saban is a defensive minded coach and has great defenses. This can be said for many head coaches around the country except ours. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good manager of a program, and a solid head coach if he let someone else run the show.
Fair weather fans turn games off early, sell their tickets when the team is losing, boo college kids.

Do not define a fan weather fan objectively criticizes about a coaches game plan and refusal to play a 2 qb system after the first ALA game when it was working on a stupid fan forum.

I do think some of the complaints are over the top, but there is a lot of validity to most of them, this isn't the first time that LES has made bad coaching decisions. He is an offensive minded coach and we have had sub par offenses since Jimbo left. Thank God for Chavis or we would be in trouble and thats the truth!
J. Lee was on pace to throw about 22 td's compared to 6 picks with w.kentucky, and ole miss yet to play that he could have had a field day. He screwed up by not continuing the offense that got them there. The reason Jefferson was successful the first time against ALA was because they prepared for Lee to start. Many ALA players said this.
