The one thing that is ironic is that we can have sooo many travel all the way to Seattle to play a regular season game against a team on a 14 game losing streak but get way outnumbered in Orlando by Iowans in the '04 Cap One Bowl game. I was embarrassed that there were so many more Hawkeyes at that game than Tigers.
Nick Saban had already announced he was leaving for the Miami Dolphins.
We were kind of deflated.

It's called 'take the whole family'. It was at the home of DISNEY WORLD for crying out loud! Besides this is the Labor Day weekend. Try again.

ok, fine.
end of a disappointing season. head coach leaving. christmas and new years.
beginning of a potentially good year. head coach staying, adding new exciting players/coaches. labor day weekend.
which one would you rather go to. i know which one i would rather go to.

Jake just called back and said crowds are more eye-popping now. He just played a set of Cajun songs and said people danced and had a good time. He enjoyed that.

Those are better excuses, but for me, it's easy, and not even close: I'd pick the BOWL GAME against a good opponent and at a fraction of the distance and cost any day. But that's just me. I guess I'm not the average Tiger fan. As a group we are not known to do the normal thing.

I was in Seattle last night. Saw a dozen or so LSU fans & thousands of Seahawks fans. Looked like the Seahawks fans had taken over things.....

To all Husky Nation, the beast has awoken from hibernation, let the games begin.

Everyone knows LSU fans are apparently all body builders and poor and spend their entire life savings on football.

If he calls back, tell him that he is a jackass and that he should keep his backhand compliments to himself.

I think there is something to be said for opening weekend that you have known about for over a year and a bowl game that is annouced 4 weeks prior. Hell I missed the 04 bowl game because I had booked a trip months in advance to NY for New Years. Went to a presser or something at the Citrus Bowl if that counts.

Its freaking Iowa, thats why. What else do they having going on? My sister went to graduate school in Nebraska (basicly a clone if Iowa) and all they have is corn. They even freaking talk about corn, its pathetic.

I agree with the last poster, I was there for the Cap One Bowl New year's day 05 and it was crazy how many Iowa people were there. Talking to some of them, you realize how much they loved getting out of 2 foot of snow and coming to Florida, sounded like the whole state basically migrated for a week or 2 before the game. Don't forget that was like the 3rd streight year they had been to either orange bowl, outback bowl, or cap one bowl in the state of Florida, so it was like momentum building each time, everbody was telling more people etc etc.
Not making excuses for LSU fans, and we didn't have a bad group there anyway. I know in the student section where we were and the fateful last play ended it was nothing but LSU students but I would agree with other posters who said it had alot to do with everybody being pissed about Saben Leaving not to mention the let down that Capital One bowl and 2004 season was after playing for the national championship less than a year earlier.

It's been a beautiful day today in Seattle and everywhere I've gone the locals have been so happy to have us. Compared to Ohio, Nebraska, and Oklahoma they're saying we're the best.
We're having a most excellent time and we're so looking forward to tomorrow.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!

It is truly amazing how ignorant some people in certain parts of the US are. Sounds like someone form Connecticut.
Yes, we still live in shacks on the bayou and ride to the store in a pirogue.
Either that, or just bigotry.
I guess they also think people of from Louisiana are cheap too, since they don't buy any of the street vendor crap.

Many of those folks see LSU through the lens of the movie The Waterboy. Almost as a subhuman breed.
