LSU Close to Announcing New Basketball Facilities

There is a thread on Wade's press conference today; but this wasn't mentioned in it and didn't want it to get lost.
But Wade was asked about enhancements to facilities and if he and Mulkey have met on that.
He first took a small jab at LSU (jokingly) and said they have "spruced up her side of the facility." But then followed up with they have met and are on the same "wavelength" of what is needed and what they want. Have met with upper administration and they are all on the same page.
Said the announcement is coming SOON and that it is "going to be big, going to be bold, and it's going to be great!"
They are working with Populous, which is an architecture firm based in St. Louis that specializes in sports venues. Some of their projects have included Yankee Stadium, Miss. St.'s new Dudy Noble Field, the renovation to Kyle Field, T-Mobile Arena in Vegas, and many others. Said that Populous recently spent a week or so on campus meeting with staff and walking through the facilities and beginning the planning process.
Wade closed saying there will be "significant enhancements to all parts of the program".

I recall hearing something a while back about renovating the PMAC with less seating & more "premium" options for club seating/suites. Hard for me to envision how that would look in the PMAC.

One thing I've learned since I moved to St Louis is that it seems to be a hub for architecture firms like this. HOK, that did Camden Yards and the new Alex Box, are also headquartered (or at least were founded in) St Louis.
ETA: After doing a bit more reading, it looks like Populous has some association with HOK.

Right at the tail end of Alleva's time here The Advocate did an article about facility upgrades and plans to remodel the PMAC. They were supposed to take an approach similar to what UF did to their arena. Article was pretty detailed on the plans, which included what you mentioned about reducing the overall seating some and adding premium seating. They were also going to eliminate the southside ramps.
I assume since Alleva was ousted pretty soon after that all of the plans were scrapped and Woodward wanted to put his stamp on it.
Some had mentioned on here that they were going to announce the plans for it and other campus upgrades last year at the end of summer, but Covid put a halt to all of it and delayed the announcement.

But, but, but Pat Forde said Will Wade was interviewed and would be put in jail any minute?! Why would we put any money into a program that won’t have a coach?!?

You aren’t the first and won’t be the last to suggest this.
Wade didn’t really indicate if it’ll be a remodel of the PMAC or all new arena.
Did indicate that it will be in stages and some of the immediate needs things will be completed in the next 6-12 months.

The preliminary drawings for that looked pretty good. The structure is stout so it can be built inside of without much pain. However, that was a local firm so I have a feeling this is going to be a brand new facility based on them getting a national firm.

With all the money LSU will be paying on former coaches & new coaches in football, combined with the $80 M deficit last year due to the China virus, no way LSU funds a new arena.

There might have been something in the advocate article at the time but what I saw is not publicly available.
