I would not bank on 9-9 even getting us in the tournament with how bad the SEC looks this season. It's seriously taken a gigantic step back. IF we go with just 1 loss in non-conf, maybe, but we would be nowhere near a 6/7 seed with a 9-9 conference record

The SEC was historically good last season. There was nowhere to go but "back" this season. That's not surprising. However, the SEC is currently the No. 1 ranked conference in the NET. Just because it's taken a step back from historically great doesn't mean it's bad by any means. A 9-9 record in the SEC means you will have beaten multiple good teams. IF, LSU can beat BC and split TTU/SMU, I have a hard time seeing a 9-9 team being left out. That happened in 2024 because LSU didn't beat anyone worth a damn in non-conf play and lost 5 games.

These next 3 games won't necessarily make or break LSU's season. But they will establish how much margin for error they have in SEC play.

I agree with the development of Reece. he is getting more confident and effective every game. Also loved to see Miller finally getting aggressive with his play. Reed being out gave him a lions share of PT and he delivered with his best game of the year. Hoping he can build on that and make a great tandem with Nwoko who is also developing into a productive offensive player. I just think about some of those games last year against ranked SEC teams where we battled for 3/4 of the games only to lose in the end due to better talent. All of those multiple scoring droughts in games that really cost us a win. I don't think we will see as much of that this year with so many options to score from so many players. and having 2 good PG to help facilitate scoring and can score themselves.

Vandy hasn't played a soul either and had a first round NIT exit last year so I wouldn't kiss that guys arse too much yet so you can shite on CMM. CMM may need to be fired but it does take time at a place like LSU to win in basketball with how good the SEC is now.

He took over a team with zero returning players, went 20-11 (8-10) in an historically good SEC and reached the NCAA Tournament in year 1. Everyone is giving praise to LSU here, as they should be, but Vandy is currently the highest ranked SEC in both NET and KenPom. The point is it DOESN'T take time to win in CBB with the right HC. So that excuse, which STILL continues to be brought up needs, to die...for any coach, anywhere.

It doesn't take time if you spend the money. I'm not sure LSU has or should make the $ commitment to basketball needed to be good year in year out. I was okay with firing CMM last year FYI.

The SEc might only be a 6 or 7 bid league this season.

I seriously disagree with this. The SEC currently has the most top 50 teams in the NET rankings, Ken Pom rankings, and Evan Miya. Every metric shows that the SEC is currently the deepest conference. Is the league overall as good as last year? No, but to say its a "gigantic" step back is nonsense. The SEC will still get somewhere around 10 bids.

Have you not learned anything from the football season? When you have a bad coach it's obvious, same with basketball. Cut ties now

LSU's sec schedule isn't the toughest so their 9-9 might not look as good as some others. But I feel pretty good that would get us in. 8 might be enough but that would leave it up to some variables.

When it comes to seeding it's about the metrics though, does LSU beat enough good opponents and do they beat the bad opponents by a decent margin.

LSU picked up an entire starting 5 from the portal, have Reid and Miller as skilled 6'10 guys coming off the bench and a few extra solid wings. I really like Thomas, McKinnon, King, and Tamba on the floor with one of the bigs.

I don't know how many games they'll win in a strong SEC but they are talented enough to be a tournament team.

How do I buy tickets for the SMU game at SK? I will be landing in MSY that afternoon and planning to head straight to the game

They're 7-0, blowing out teams, and ranked 19th in NET and you want to fire the coach. Are you slow or something? Genuinely asking.

Yeah shitty teams. They beat FSU, K-State and blewout Stetson last year too and did nothing afterwards.

This is from a week ago, so maybe the SEC had a great week last week, but this looks brutal on the SEC's side:

And when we beat BC you'll say that's not good enough, SMU not good enough and keep moving the goalposts to fit your narrative. If you're miserable watching LSU play good fundamental team basketball and beat teams by 20-30, that's on you. But don't project your misery on everyone else.

It does. But then you look at the KenPom ratings and see among the top 40:

11 SEC teams
8 Big 10 teams
7 Big 12 teams
6 ACC teams

The SEC isn't historically good like it was last year. But it's, as of now, still the highest rated conf. overall. The highest rated conference generally gets the most NCAAT bids. That was the discussion. Saying 9-9 likely wouldn't get LSU in because the league is "down" from last year. It IS down from last year. But not so much that 9 conf wins coupled with a solid OOC performance (which we are hoping LSU can continue) wouldn't be enough.
