I mean regardless of what you think about Verge, he has basically been second-in-command for the athletic department for the majority of this century.
He's not my first choice by any means but he's not the worst hire the school could do IMO.

Pretty sure they emphatically said that they’d be hiring a new coach before they hired the AD.
I guess they could have an AD chosen and let him have input on the new coach before the AD officially takes the reins, but that doesn’t sound like what’s going to happen.
