Back when two played for the national title or four, I could get behind this thought. But nowadays playing the best gets you ready for a twelve team playoff. With that many teams getting into the postseason, Bama annually is a measuring stick and growth opportunity not the landmine it used to be under the old formats

I would have rather Fla or Auburn than A&M. Bama is not our rival and with Saban gone kinda meh.

Another way to look at it is if you go 10-2 your chances are high for making the playoff. So you just aim for that or better each year and an easier schedule supports that effort.

The way the rest of the schedule rotates all but guarantees we will play one or two of the others every season. It just won’t be the same one each time.

Not ideal, but it could be worse. I'm glad we don't have Oklahoma, as a lot of people predicted. I'll miss the annual games against the original SEC members, especially Bama, Auburn, UF, and State. It's a bummer that we have A&M and Arkansas instead.

This sport is supposed to be about tradition and regional rivalries.

Already lost the annual rivalry game with Auburn and now we lose the one with Bama. That sucks. I wish they would quit trying to make the Arkansas/LSU thing a rivalry. It is artificial and makes no sense.
