changes include closing off Unity Field during game days for the remainder of the football season and blocking vehicle access to Highland Road without a pass

Good. If nothing changes, then nothing changes. They have to start somewhere to make gameday safer for everyone. I'll keep my hopes up, but this will be a challenge for LSU, Fans, & the Police.

Officials said they believe the origin of both shootings can be traced to a student group’s tailgate, the organizers of which they did not name.

They claimed this group’s tailgate brought a large number of people not affiliated with LSU to the campus. Lee said the school has decided to fence off the space on campus known as Unity Field at the corner of South Stadium Drive and Highland Road for the remainder of the season.

In addition, the student group that’s allegedly responsible is being put through a student conduct process.

quick social media search shows the omegas had a tailgate there

i wonder why they wont name them when they will happily report on any other frats misdeeds

My parents let us wander campus when we were 8-12 and go bowling in the union. It’s a certain demographic fricking things up.

Same here 8-12 age range.. There was a pizza place on the north side of campus with a couple of arcade games. My parents were by the old Alex box and me and a friend would walk to the pizza place. Have a slice of pizza and play games. this was the early 80's though. We would meet them in the seats of the stadium.

Have cameras on the student section. Kick out and ban all of them for the rest of the year to whoever is chanting the childish vulgar chant.
That's not even remotely what this is about.

blocking vehicle access to Highland Road without a pass

the lot right next to Unity Field is a free parking lot. Not sure how they plan on actually going about this, but it sounds like a shitshow knowing how our police operate.

I’m thinking if you have a parking pass in any lot, you’ll still have access to Highland road. If you use free lots, LSU hates you anyway for not giving them more money so they don’t care how much of a hassle this may cause.

And an Arcade room and pool hall. You must have attended LSU in the late 80's like me.

I love it. LSU is finally doing something, but get ready for a mess especially at the A @ M game. Leave at least an hour early.

I can't wait to talk to my buddy on the board, but it probably won't be until Thanksgiving.

That “group” tailgate on “Unity Field” happens every homecoming. It’s the one game day a year where it gets wild over there.

That would be the most logic thing to do but it's Louisiana, progressive thinking is not a strong suit from leaders within the state.

Great, whatever makes it inconvenient for the undesirables to be on or around campus is fine by me.

Both the Interim President and BOS head mentioned on several occasions they want to protect the interests of “ticket holding” patrons. I wonder if they emphasized this to separate all non ticket holders on campus as opposed to just the “trouble makers.”

by the looks of it from tiktok, the florida game wasn't any different. i didn't walk that direction for it so i can't say first hand

any other "student group" that tailgating had that much weed smoke would have been shut down. That is not even accounting for the multiple shootings
