Donate to the "Bayou Traditions NIL Collective" for some kid that I've never met, who has parents, and may or may not transfer after a year or two?

It's the unfortunate reality of CFB recruiting for the foreseeable future

It's ok to think this is ridiculous and not send the collective one cent of your money. But if that's the attitude of the majority of the fanbase, then you also have to accept the fact that less recruits will ultimately show up on campus.

My guess is a large number of fans won't support this, and simultaneously bitch that BK can't recruit and is being "outworked" when LSU has the #12 class instead of the #4 class.

It’s not. It’s a holier than thou response.

Everyone knows this is luxury. All luxury spending could be better served going to charity. But people deserve a little fun.

Should we tell them that their math is off at every level? I know we aren't supporting MIT here, but even some of our athletes can work out 5 x 12 = 60, not 50.

This is like a timeshare. You can own a fractional share of an LSU student athlete.

This might surprise you, but sometimes in subscriptions you get a bit of a deal if you pay it all upfront yearly as opposed to a monthly fee

100% - to the original message, do the same with your Netflix account, vacations, going out to eat at a nice restaurant. Economics don't work the way the original message set them up to. 100% a grandstand on his part.

Big question: can I deduct this expense from my taxes?

And usually that savings is spelled out. The website wasn't well thought out. There are hardly any details on what each package will give. What the frick is a tailgate pass? What kind of merchandise do you get?

Imagine giving your hard earned money to some kid that will enroll at Bama after he doesn’t get enough playing time or gets a bigger NIL deal

I mean… a nice LSU polo or light jacket or something similar can cost you $75. If they give me a cool piece of clothing I’ll give ‘em a hundred. What’s the merch?

Most of the stuff LSU gives away is pretty mediocre. However, I don't think it can be worse than what Cleveland Browns season ticket holders get in their gift bags:

I 100% agree with you. However, that's also a generalization.

Whoever donates the most, has the nicest the facilities, has the most money doesn't always finish first. See Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Stanford, and so on...

That said, I'm willing to accept your generalization.

It isn't at all - hence the "it's your money, do as you wish."

quote:

Everyone knows this is luxury.

Is it really? You have no say so in how the money is spent, who it is allocated to, and so forth. If anything, this is a gamble. Your "return" or "odds" may be a little better or more in your favor, but it is still a gamble.

If that's your idea of "fun", then have at it. It's your money, and do as you so wish. However, as mentioned in my previous post, the school's with the most money, most donors, new and upgraded facilities (Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon) don't always win.

On the other hand, it gives the donor some "skin in the game." You certainly have a right to be livid and fuming with inadequate results should you generously donate.
