Yeah, I don't really like "student athletes" right now. Some of the most privileged, high status young people in the state that act like they are exploited victims. Let someone else pay them. Welcome to the real world you wanted so badly.

shite. I already pay for 6 season tickets in football, 2 in baseball and the donations that go along with those.

I think what you meant to say, is you’re already contributing to that shite

Fair enough, but at least in that I’m getting some value for my money. I could be wrong, but this is likely targeting people who are already giving. I really can’t imagine someone not having a stake in the product (season tickets) and giving to this. That’s even a more ludicrous notion to me. If anything I’d sponsor a player if they advertised for my business, thus creating some value for me.

Which is great if NIL was working as intended. Unfortunately, we have moved on to the "cash up front for my signature" portion of the play

And that "for-profit" athletic department you keep talking about can't actually pay the players, it's the one part of this whole thing the schools can actually get penalized for

So they create these shell collectives that people can they wash the money in and then pass it on to the players

Again, LSU has to either adapt and fall in line or fall behind, there's really no other option

Yep. Check out my post from last week that questions TAF giving all together in this new model, removal of all incentives.

I dont think you're wrong but their are a ton of out of state alumni / fans that are not able to travel to games on a regular basis that are more than willing to chip in 20 bucks a month since they aren't spending money on anything else. I normally can only make 1 football game a year and usually a baseball series or two depending on the schedule. So to me, 10 dollars a month just to get some more dumb shite to fill up my LSU room is not as outrageous as it probably seems to you.

That would be one selling point, other than the money going into a blackhole…

Let it fail. At the end of the day if you’re just giving your money away to this dumb shite without getting anything in return you’re just aiding and abetting this nonsense to continue.

Genuinely laughable perks

isn't the goal of donating to an NIL collective to be competitive on the recruiting trail and on the field?

Thats you perk, winning

If they just left it up to fans, I think more of us would rather watch a bunch of kids that wanted to be at LSU lose 12 games a year than watch a bunch of 18 year old hundred thousandaire mercenaries go 10-2.

The people who make money off of it can’t stand to let it fail.

I’d pay $100 a month if the signed thank you notes were coming from football and baseball players. My son is really into autographed stuff, and he would love to get something like that monthly.

NIL worked out beautifully for the schools didn't it? You foot the bill for the labor, we'll continue to keep all of the profits

I think there should be an option to either support the general NIL fund, or sport specific.
I also think the perks should be some type of preference points or TAF points.

Can you choose which team or athlete you want the money going towards?
