Long pass up right sideline, otherwise very good DB
somehow completely whiffs, touchdown ...
Kind of spooky, no?

I don't know about spooky. But it sure was shitty. On both counts.

Why do LSU and the Saints always have the worst damn luck in games?

Ole Donte looked like he was on skates

Donte Jackson? Otherwise very good? Did you watch the Florida game last year?

They weren't freak plays. They were routine plays that LSU and the Saints just totally fricked up. frick up like that on any play and it will be a touchdown. LSU and the Saints are just frickups. Nothing freaky about that. With these two teams, when they DON'T frick up, it's freaky.

When you just shite the bed like LSU and the Saints generally have over the decades, it's not bad luck, it's just being generally shitty and fricking up a lot.

Donte tried to make a play and he was not being compensated for his efforts.
Can't say the same for that disgraceful play by the professional player for the Saints.

Damn LMAO I just mentioned this in a post on another topic before seeing this thread. Yes, eerily similar. I don't know about LSU, but for the Saints, that play will reverberate in the minds of those players all off-season. It will eat at their soul, and once it's eaten them to the point of madness, it will drive them to such anger it will fuel their desire to make amends. That defense this year was driven by the failure of last season's defense, and it did a damn good job of making amends, they fell just one play short. With this defense being so young, with the injuries they've had the last few weeks of the season, that defense will be driven to make another step and play even better next year. The Saint are a very young team. There's a lot of stars on that team who are in their first and second season. They will be much better next season. Next years Saints team is going to be scary good, and a superbowl win won't surprise me at all. What about the Yikes. That play will be the highlight of their season. Even if they do beat Philly, New England will beat the hell out of them. It's the Vikings. The 0 and 4 in the superbowl Vikings. After today their luck is spent. What an amazing job Brees and Payton did in that second half, and nobody will even mention it now.

Meh it’s more likely than not the Brees and Payton Saints are never in that spot again. NFL is so tough and we’ve only gotten that close 4 times in their 11/12 years together.
It’s sickening bc we’d have very likely seen a Brees / Brady Super Bowl, a virtual pick’em, and an amazing two weeks of hype. And I’d have been there

Yep, I know. Makes me sick too. Would have been a great run and a hell of a superbowl. All because of a fluke play that would fail 99 times out of a 100. But, it's not over, the Saints are really a young team, and they will be better next season. So, save that storyline, it will come in handy next year. It just sickens me that all these experts like Randy Moss, Charles woodson talked about the Vikes def and how they were too good for Payton and Brees. And after that second half where the saints Offense dominated that vikes defense, those experts won't even acknowledge how good the saints offense is. All they will say is how right they were and yada yada yada, bunch of BS. For me personally, I hope Philly beats the hell out of them. If they don't, I hope they lose big in the superbowl. And I am not fond of Philly fans, they up there with Chicago fans when it comes to arrogance and being just plain ole a holes. Next year will be a great year for sports in the state of Louisiana.

Well since the saints don't pick up Lsu players in the draft they sure won't pick up on donte Jackson, damn that dude suck but not sure he would have made a bone headed play like Marcus Williams did. He would tackle the guy for sure instead of ducking to get out the way.

I see the “Next Year U” mentality has spread from LSU fans to Saints fans now. Must be a Louisiana thing.

quote:exactly. Far too many time nowadays defenders don't attempt to wrap up, they just lower their shoulder to deliver a blow. No fundamentals anymore.

And a complete failure by the Saints DB to understand the game situation. With no timeouts, all the Saints had to do was tackle the receiver inbounds and the game was over.

Not to mention the disrespect and inconsiderate behavior that went on. I stopped being a saints fan, NFL fan in general after 50 plus years. A bunch of cry baby , spoiled billionaires .
