We already know they admitted to altering the buyout provision. It's not like they changed "where to were" in a sentence. Sorry but, when someone changes a contract everyone must re-sign/initial the changed contract. By not getting Chavis to sign/initial it they acted unethical. If we can't see that then we are biased.
A lot, and I mean A LOT, of assumptions there.

Before I join rantards in histrionics, what EXACTLY was altered and how EXACTLY was it altered?
Are we talking they changed "who" to "whom" or made a material change? and was the change consented to by the other side, in writing or otherwise?

Can't ask these questions. Pitchforks have been removed from the trailers

Why didn't the judge rule completely in Chavis' favor or say "case dismissed" if LSU f'd up as bad as everyone is making it out to be?
I'll wait till the final outcome before I start asking for heads to roll.

It doesn't work like that. This isn't People's Court.

After the way the administration has looked over the past month, I think they lost the ability of the benefit of the doubt.

since you seem to be aware of how it actually does work, answer this:
in what "court filing" was this admission made?
Was the admission made in response to a direct question, and if so, exactly what was the question?

Of course you can sue over an altered contract
No shite. The point was that LSU can't alter the contract, then sue Chavis for breach of contract when he didn't agree to the altered contract to begin with.
Nothing worse than someone who tries to act intellectually superior and is constantly wrong.

not giving somebody the benefit of the doubt can equal "grossly overreacted like a knee-jerk ranter and totally got all up in the koolaid without even knowing the flavor."
Just saying.
Just saying.

was the alteration even on the exact provision of the contract that is in dispute? I mean, down to the clause? Because if they altered something that isn't even at issue here, and if the original language is known and undisputed, then this shite really doesn't even matter except to ignorant people.

Our leadership needs to be fired and replaced.

Jill Craft is a tough attorney. This statement is absolutely correct.
We don't have the information to really draw any conclusions from this except that LSU has admitted that some language was changed after the contract was signed, and the lawsuit is still going forward. This obviously wasn't a case ending admission.
That is not necessarily true. Civil lawsuits often have many components. Just because you win one point, or the lawsuit in general doesn't mean that you brought home all of the bacon that you could have.

Probably in response to written discovery issued by Chavis' attorneys such as requests for admission or interrogatories. I say probably because I have no involvement in the case and do not know for sure how this was admitted. But this is the most likely way this happened.
And you don't just show up in court and have the the judge rule on his own spontaneously that one side wins. At a minimum someone has to file a motion.
Yes you lawyers out there I know that technically a judge can dismiss a case on their own but it does not happen in the real world.

Through a public records request, LSU obtained a letter of agreement for Chavis to become the new defensive coordinator at Texas A&M. The letter was sent to Chavis on Dec. 27 and was signed in December, though the exact day was redacted. LSU lost 31-28 to Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl, which took place on Dec. 30.
quote:
Three lines of the contract were changed, according to a side-by-side comparison of the contracts that The Advocate obtained through the court.
Chavis received a copy of a new three-year contract on Jan. 1, 2012, signed it and returned it to LSU. The contract was not approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors until June of that year.
During the gap of time between those two events, LSU President John Lombardi was removed from his position. President William L. Jenkins was replaced him in an interim role.
Lombardi’s name was included in Chavis’ signed contract. Mark Ewing, LSU’s senior association athletic director for business, or someone at Ewing’s “discretion” removed Lombardi’s name from the contract and added Jenkins’ name, the documents say.
Two lines of the buyout clause in the original contract were also changed in early April. On April 3, the document says, someone from the school’s Finance and Administrative Services or the LSU Systems Office called Ewing about rewording the dates of the buyout section of the contract.
Ewing changed the language regarding the buyout dates from “between 24 months to 36 months” to “between the first day of the 36th month remaining to the last day of the 24th month remaining.”
He also changed language in the buyout dates from “between 11 months and 23 months” to “between the first day of the 23rd month remaining to the last day of the 12th month.”

The only thing I am assuming is that the advocate is reporting the truth.
They are reporting that LSU altered the buyout provision. That in itself is unethical. I am not sure what you are holding onto. If your business partner told you he changed your business agreement without telling you two years ago........how much faith and trust would you have in him?
Let's take the Miles debacle along with these facts....If anyone has faith in Aleva after all that, Geez!!

I say Alleva deserves one more year! He has earned it. Haha
