They had 1179 points, LSU had 1174 points. It's really just not that big of a deal.
I bet you were a fan of the 2011 rematch.

Crazy how the media has OU hyped up way more than the Coaches, who didn't even have them ranked.
They’ll always get the benefit of the doubt. They’re a blue blood. Always will be. Same story with ND and Texas.
Michigan in the same boat. Hilarious they play at OU week 2. Two media darlins

The AP and coaches just can’t get that 42-13 bludgeoning out of their minds rightfully so.
Makes you wonder had LSU beat Bama 42-13, where would each team be ranked right now? Completely new teams on each side and allegedly they’re not supposed to take last seasons results into account.
Even if we lose another to Bama but it’s 42-35 or something like that, I bet we open the season ahead of bama in the polls. Whatever. Doesn’t matter. I’m just sick of seeing The tide in front of LSU. We all figured Saban leaving would be huge and so far it hasn’t mattered to us.
They’ll always seem to get that Bama bias until we beat them regularly and reestablish the pecking order like it was in the 2000s.

These media polls are terrible. They have favoritism to them. There's always teams that sneak up in conference play that media didn't expect. Florida and South Carolina have a very good chance to be the surprises to SEC and LSU plays them both. Lagway could end up the best QB in the SEC by year end and that's not a major knock on Nuss Lagway has that much potential. SC will be looking for revenge and are probably the biggest reason they did not receive a playoff bid that they should've got last year if anyone paid any attention to their team in the media. They were fire second half of the season and should've beat LSU if they didn't get their QB hurt in that game.
LSU has a tough road to the playoffs they can't afford losing anywhere because someone is probably going to hand them a loss they didn't expect.

If lsu beats Clemson at Clemson. Based on results. We jump top 3 worst case

And that was last year. The QB that ran all over LSU’s defense is gone.

AP Poll saying Clemson is better than Georgia is hilarious
Georgia is probably the better overall team, but I've seen Clemson listed with 6 possible 1st rd picks. Clemson has an established QB who's supposed to be good, while UGA doesn't. And Clemson has to play ... LSU at home in their opener, then an ACC schedule, then close @ South Carolina. UGA has Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas on schedule.
There's a very good chance Clemson will finish with a better record.

Should be 7th. Oregon, Notre Dame do not belong ahead of LSU. They have a completely new team this year and will do worse.

The only reason Clemson is where they are is because they made the playoffs and have a returning QB despite having 4 losses last year which was same as LSU.
If Clemson had missed the game winning field goal vs SMU, thereby not making playoffs, they'd be around 10th. That's how simple minded these voters are. A made field goal was the difference in 3rd and 10th best team to them.

What do you think LSU would be ranked if South Carolina had not been called rough that unnecessary roughness penalty on that interception?

Last #9 vs #6 game we had to start year was LSU vs Texas in 2019.

Penn State has a criminally soft schedule.

Per usual.
And who the hell is Bama’s QB? Do they know yet?
