-Why is Quarterman starting/playing? He has should have been redshirted written all over him.

His and Hickey's roles will be reversed by the time SEC play rolls around. His length on the defensive end will be nice to have off the bench. It's been kind of established that this's has been a way to try to get TQ acclimated and as a pseudo-punishment for hickey for a couple minor transgressions. The way I see it, no harm no foul.

ETA and you're right about Mickey. Rock hard in my pants

His instincts alone are amazing, then couple it with a 7-3 wingspan and that athletic ability and you've got a pretty good player.

We're really going to need another consistent 3-point threat.

What does he do good? He has had very few if any turnovers. He has done a consistently excellent job of getting the ball to our post players when they are on the block. His defense and rebounding are much more solid than last year. Give the guy a break.

I don't disagree with any of this, but I like Coleman over Hammink. That was my point earlier. Coleman threatens the defense with a little more offensive skill.

Agreed Tom. Hammink is one of the players I'm most impressed with so far this season. With a smidge more confidence, I think he might start contributing more point-wise on top of his improved play and stable offensive presence.

Unfortunately, that's what Hammink hasn't shown yet this season. After thinking about it, I guess Hammink's minutes are fine considering Martin's injury.

smidge more confidence

It does look like he's a little timid out there on offense.

Glad to see Hammink is improving a little.

Speaking of Martin, when can we expect to see him in the LSU lineup?

he looks timid on both sides. He probably isn't as bad as he has been made out to be in this thread. I do think if he didn't look shaky then people wouldn't be all on him. I actually do like that we are trying to get him time early in this year.

If we press a fair amount this year and Hammik averages a solid 5-10 minutes with a few points and rebounds and can continue to avoid turning the ball over, it'll be a big boost to the team. He's def looking to pass first, but seems to have good awareness and capacity to score around the rim.

Hammik did an amazing job in the UMASS game with the rest of the team playing out of control. He probably played 10+ min in the first half and was a good calming influence although maybe not a danger to score. If he played as crazy as the rest of the team during that stint, we likely lose by more than 2. If he had logged solid minutes in the 2nd half, who knows, maybe we win.

So does Coleman. Or really just about the whole team sometimes. Stringer and Hickey are the only real threats we have from three.

Not sure if someone has touched on this but why did Morgan not play in the second half? At least I don't remember seeing him after half time.
