Sometimes having talent exposes other flaws. When JJ first took the Job and the team would lose games, the general consensus was that the team didn't have the overall talent level to compete, but now We have the talent with similar results. Some of the games we lost then and losing now are because JJ doesn't appear to have the ability to make in game adjustments and put players in positions where their skills can benefit the team. You can't simply throw talent out there and say "Go Win".
He has future pros in his lineup but in order for the team to reach their potential or what their overall talent suggest they should, The X and O's have to be better, the accountability has to be better, you can't simply roll the balls out. I personally believe this team will get better and still be one of the top teams in the SEC but they just have some growing to do, players and staff. :geauxtigers:

Just an update on Andre. He missed 6 games recently with a ankle injury. Best game since his return. Team is still tops in division and Andre is still top 10 in 3pt%.

I will definitely do that. Mickey and Martin have really played well this year. I have really enjoyed watching how Quarterman has developed he'll emerge as the team's leader IMO

Just an update on Andre Stringer he has become a major part of the team that has the best record in the D-league so far and from talking to him he seems to be having a really good time.

I never agreed with how Hickey was dismissed, Hickey was a problem child but he was ours, and on that court he gave the team all he had and made big play after big play, also there is no substitute for experience and leadership and I think hickey could have provided that for this team.

He's doing well he's in Portland Maine, he's was picked up by the Celtics D League squad the Red Claws, their only 4 games in getting his feet wet averaging right at 8 a game shooting nealry 50% from 3 and over 52% from the field. So he seems to be getting a little more comfortable as he plays but we will see how it goes.

I've been able to watch a few of the games and I think this squad is loaded with talent, so I think its a little early to overreact. A little more time on the floor together to gel and they'll be fine. PATIENCE. :geauxtigers:

Every team knew how to guard us, they throw it to JOB we double..... and instead of us countering that with another option... we said "o you're gonna double that's ok we're gonna throw it to him anyway"

A in the 30's shooting percentage for veteran players is respectable?
Yes Coleman and Hickey are both 35% from 3 and Martin is 33 so yes from 3 that is respectable and u got to think open looks off double teams would improve that percentage ie: beginning of the Kentucky game when JOB delivered the ball out of the double team quickly and shavon knocked down 2 or 3 threes to begin the game

Reading this thread is very disturbing to me. Just a speculation on my part but CJJ may have told JOB III that he would be spotlighted if he returned his junior year. I know this is far fetched but what other reason would JOB return? To improve his draft stock, correct? Maybe CJJ saw this as a win-win and it just didn't pan out.
JOB was spotlighted and should have been spotlighted he was and is the best player on this team but im simply saying he could have been spotlighted within the framework of the team.
Its common knowledge that if you pass out of a double team and create open looks and you capitalize on some of those that double team will come slower and a little more passive eventually the double would stop completely in which time JOB s one on one and he's going to completely dominant that guy. You got dre shooting 40% hickey in the 30's coleman, martin in the 30's not great but respectable so that could give JOB A stat line like 18/10/5ast instead of 1 ast 6 turnovers

I think EVERYONE could see that something wasn't quite right this season. Whether it was the locker room, coaching, attitudes, or more likely a combination of all of that mixed up together to produce a lot of head scratching, here's to hoping the team and staff are able to grow, learn, and improve for next season.
Completely agree, I hope this team shocks the world next yr

First let me throw out a disclaimer anything I say on here or anywhere else does not need to reflect on my brother, these are my words not his and im a man first so I dont feel the need to hide behind some screen name.
Now buy no means was I saying JOB was a selfish player and wasn't trying to win, Far as I kno Johnny is doing what he's told to do, so its more of a staff decision problem then a player problem. So I want it to be clear about what im saying
Now anybody that's watched basketball or played it can answer this question. Is it ever sound basketball advice to tell a player to play thru or disregard a double team???? From what I was taught if you are double teamed somebody is open and you should try to explore that opportunity. Now there are select times when you are able to spilt a poorly executed double team but chances are if you are able to consistently split a teams double team their not very good anyway and you're probably blowing them out anyway. At major college programs that's not case.
My point is JOB is not being told to pass out of double teams quickly he's being told to attack the double team in some fashion. Now due to these instructions not only is the rest of the team not involved in the offense, but attacking those traps has made our BIG MAN lead us in turnovers by a margin that's has to be some type of record. So the staff isnt doing JOB any favors either.
The problem is the staff felt like they had one horse so they rode it the entire season, but in reality they had a number of horses that just needed to be rode differently. That's simply called coaching your TEAM not just ONE PLAYER.

when I said different vibes I didn't mean some wanted to play and some didn't. I meant some play for different reasons, where their are a few that play with Winning as the only goal, some play for other reasons that have nothing to do with the team at times.
I also believe that the very predictable offense in which we literally give the ball to JOB every single time down has cause some players to almost Tap out.
ex. You take Hickey, his major attribute is his speed, ability to create on fast break or transition and ad-lib and make plays. You put him in a position where you only want him to walk it down and give it to JOB and just stand there, you're essentially cutting his legs off. Eventually he's going to become disinterested and bogged down.
Same with Mickey and Martin they are much better players in uptempo situations, they aren't classic back to the basket post players they're Hybrids. Martin gets out in Transition and dunks or finishes every time. You put him in a "stand and look at JOB" offense you get an erratic, jump shooting 6'9 forward.
So its hard to blame some of them for feeling how they feel, cause they don't all have the same mentality. Whereas Andre may feel how they feel his mindset is going to say I'm just going to play hard and make the best of the situation, but all of them can't do that.
