Okay, and thats not a terrible take about a freshmen. They were just likely bring cautious. I mean, you realize half this board designated garza as the next matt clark before we saw him play a game here.

They weren't being cautious. They made it clear that they though it was idiotic. I don't see how it is "idiotic" to think a very talented freshman can hit .280. That's not an astronomical number. I was being conservative.

As for Garza, I had hoped he could be a Matt Clark type, but he had some obvious contact issues facing LSU pitchers in the off-season. I didn't think he'd be this bad, but I wasn't exactly hyped about him.

Plus you're attempting to put the runner in scoring position to get the 5 run lead in order to avoid the one swing tie.

That’s fine if you have a guy who you feel confident in laying the bunt down.

I don’t know how anyone could feel comfortable with Mathis actually putting it down

Mathis not getting that bunt down cost us a run. Bianco would have scored on a sac fly by Duplantis.

Whenever they show these commentators on camera it reminds me of watching Catholic High on the local Baton Rouge station. This is high school level production.

Brandt isnt a great hitter, but is a good bunter

Brandt does have a great eye though.

That’s the most important part to being a good bunter.

I don’t have the numbers in front of me so you could possibly make me look foolish here but I’d say Broussard is in the top 3rd of the team on the least amount of strikeouts

Simply a guess, but maybe Paul felt like it was a good oppurtunity to let him try it in a game with a 4 run lead.

Sure. But I still don’t see why it’s necessary.

I’m not mad about the call I just don’t see the upside of it

Did home plate ump just change his strike 3 call because the batter said he got a piece of it? I have the volume off...did it sound like he did?

Experience for later in the year for Mathis perhaps. Again, just a guess.

It didn’t seem like he made contact, but those quick reactions from the batters are rarely fabricated.

Yea he got a nick but that wasn’t the first time he’s done that crap. That umpire sucks balls.

Generally if you have a bad batting average then you’re not going to be a very good bunter because you’re not seeing the ball well.

At that point you’re just putting a below par hitter in a hole and expecting him to deliver

It’s easier to sac bunt than to hit.
If you can’t bunt, I would suggest try pitching or another sport.

Bunting is more about being disciplined and wanting to do whatever it takes to help your team.
