You don’t think they emphasize plate discipline?
What if they get their pitch on the first pitch but miss under it slightly or over it? Is that poor discipline or just a mis-hit?

If you go up looking for a fastball for a strike, first pitch, and get it, it's good plate discipline if you get a base hit. It's bad plate discipline if you don't get a hit.
