101M$ ain’t much money….
And public money is diluted 50% with all the bureaucracy.

No they didn't. They got $2000 raises

Also the state is not giving $101 million

Read the article

Thread is full of people who didn't even know the legislature was in session bitching about something that's good for the school they support

They should just remove those massive walkways on N Stadium Drive

They are kind of iconic, but I agree, they need to go. There is so damn much potential if they do it.. Mainly, you could build a structure as an addition to the PMAC that would open into the concourse making that entire side of the court into a club level with suites and lounges while ground level could be new locker rooms, training facilities, and a more grand front door type entrance. Include balconies over looking N. Stadium drive and Tiger Stadium and it would be an awesome place to watch the team come down the hill pregame.

Nothing more important than a basketball arena. This state is so fricked

I'm sure there are some homeless junkies who could make better use of the 101 million.

Why should taxpayers pay for this?

You do realize how many other events are held in the Pmac besides LSU sports, right?

A shite ton of High School Graduations every May is just one example.

THIS.

Also, this bond issuance will drive an increase in season ticket sales for all PMAC teams. Someone mentioned earlier about concerts/outside events. This is a big one. If done correctly (this one worries me), the PMAC could easily host an additional 25-30 events a year that currently do not consider BR due to lack of quality and size of facilities.

It’s priority five! He doesn’t have to veto it, it on the back burner.

2016 pricing for Construction is around double the price in 2023. shite my 2019 Highway project vs my 2023 project we just won for the same materials was double the cost.

Great point. This is on par with those numbers that were listed for the UH / Auburn facilities, when you add in escalation. Probably safe to assume that this is an interior rip and replace with exterior upgrades. My guess is ~18 months of construction. Tearing the building down doesn't make much sense, given its location on campus. Would create a logistical nightmare.

s the state funding this? If it’s through TAF I wouldn’t expect the state to have any say so in it.
They broke it down for you. Fifty one million is coming from the state and fifty million from the University. I love LSU sports and am in favor of renovating the PMAC, although I admit I am floored by the price tag. However the folks on here that pretend that Athletics never gets any government money are wrong. Facilities in the past and future have obviously been built and renovated with lots of government backed bonds. For instance, who funded the original building of Tiger Stadium and all of the add on's and enhancements over the years? It would be interesting to know the history of how all of that happened.

That's the $100 million they took from the Office of Public Health. The money will be much better spent on a basketball facility (he says sarcastically)!

You should do some research and im sure you could find tons of stuff worst than this that the taxpayers are paying for. If this is the dumbest thing we’re paying for I’ll join you in trying to block it.

As a taxpayer I’m more than happy to know my money is going towards this facility improvement.

Side note, when my kids asked why their friends were getting stimmy checks and we didn’t get one I told them people like dad have to pay for the stimmy checks for their friends. Nothing is free

For perspective, LSU’s South Endzone expansion costed $78m

If his BIG Government doesn’t get to run it, collect taxes from it, or personally get his low bid liberals a chance to build it, He ain’t down with OK ing anything. He’s a certified Woke, Ultra-Liberal , climate change controlling puss of a politician. Remember HE said LSU could lose Football and then had the Nerve to be at Joe s Heisman ceremony. He is the worst thing to happen to Louisiana politics, a Hurricane Hore!

LSU is the one of very few bright spots in La
Born (Monroe) and lived most of my life in Louisiana. (Mandeville/Mandeville HS)

Got out after Katrina, (Houston and Pensacola) but missed going to LSU games, (And my Bear's Po-Boys) so we tried Baton Rouge on for size for a few years.

Totally unliveable city now.

Out and down to the East Central Florida beaches and not coming back. (Except for maybe a few big games and Alumni Band if they move it up earlier in the season)

There's more to life than LSU Athletics and I'm saying that as an Alum and former obsessive/compulsive LSU fanatic........

$51M generated by TAF and $50M state funded through bonds.

All that money and still on the government’s tit.

Yes, it might be hard to grasp, but Louisiana STATE University is not a private school and is on the STATE government tit. Along with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
